Medicare and Plastic Surgery?

Just wondering. I have a friend trying to find a plastic surgeon in New York who takes Medicare. Has anyone had any experience with this? Thanks! Amy

I'm not so sure Medicaid will pay for plastic surgery, which is cosmetic surgery. UNLESS, it's due to disfigurement, then I still think it's a no...She should call the local Department of Social Services Medicaid Unit and ask them for a doctor...

What I understand is it is Medicare.

I have a friend who lives in Elmira that just had a TT, her insurance is TotalCare Medicaid...I am not sure about Medicare...as suggested above I would call and ask, also PCP's usually have a pretty good idea of who accepts what insurance and a referal is usually needed anyway, maybe she should start there.
