Topic: Hungery?
I have been talking to a lot more openly with everyone about my surgery since people are starting to notice my weight loss (I had initally planned not to tell anyone for multiple reasons), and many people are shocked to learn that after this surgery you no longer feel that sensation of hunger.
After I explain why and how there is no longer the hunger feelings, they all ask 'so when will you feel hungry again, or will you just never feel hungry again?'.
I never know the answer to that, and didn't really think to ask that question in any of my appointments.
Does anyone know the answer? When will the hunger feelings return? or will they ever come back? (Not that I am in any rush for them to come back, just curious)

Welcome Kash - and anyone else out there who are new to the board and i may have missed. I don't get on to check the board as regularly as I would like - but I remember how important the New Brunswick board was to me back when I was pre-op and then post op. I just couldn't get enough info. I had lap RNY - not the sleeve - my profile and blog is public - feel free to read away!

You are right Jenn - there is a very long wait for an appt with Dr. Cluet. Her name is the only one I have heard mentioned regarding doing plastics on post weight loss surgery patients in Newfoundland. It is my understanding - and please correct me if I am wrong - that MCP will only cover procedures that are medically necessary. So - bat wings - unless they are causing some sort of medical issue - such as rubbing and causing rashes etc - and tummy tucks - same issue - most people that I have heard that got coverage under MCP had problems with skin integrity under folds etc. That being said - I do know of one individual who had plastics done by Dr. Cluett and self paid. I know of a couple ladies who have gone to Mexico and self paid - and have been thrilled with their results. Recovery from plastic surgery is a very individual thing - but I would hazard a guess that it's much more difficult than the weight loss surgery itself - at least for most people. For me - at 50 yrs old now - and having had a couple unexpected general anaesthetics over the years - I'm happy where I am and not willing to undergo the anaesthetic and pain - let along the possible risks and poor outcomes that could happen. Dr. Cluett is where i would start though if I was seeking plastic surgery. Good for you Jenn on being so proactive and getting your appt set up!

That sounds great, I am not sure of all of the appointment process yet all Raleen told me was about the information session. Although it would be good to know each thing you have to do in the process. I like being organized and I am have trouble with not knowing what to expect so I am always looking for more information just to keep my stress levels down lol

If you look on page 2 of the message board, Terrie has a topic there "Liquid diet you asked for". In there she gives her email. Send her an email and she will send you a copy.

Hi Jackie79 that sounds great! Was the first appointment the information session? I spoke to Raleen and she said that she would be having another one in the new year. I am hoping to be part of that. I know it will be a long process for me because of my BMI and medical history but just the idea of getting my life back has me so excited it is all I can think about.

Krista I think Terrie has an electronic version of the liquid diet plan. I'm sure when she sees this today or tomorrow she will be able to send it to you.
