Help!! Very Sick
Goodmorning, I usually only lurk (sorry) but today I really need some advice.
I am 2 1/2 yrs out of RYN, have had a very sucessful weight loss and no problems so far. but here is my problem, I have been sick for amost 2 weeks now, started with vomiting, diarrhea, chills & fever for about a week on and off, Friday & Saturday the fever spiked to 103, it broke on Sunday so I thought I was getting better still could not keep anything in or down so of course on Monday I found myself in the ER dehydrated, they gave me fuilds and potassom, did a Cat Scan of the stomach area, told me I had Gastroneteritis & Hiatal hernia from that, also told me I have a Urinary Track infection gave me an anitbiotic, and sent me home that was 3 days ago, I have taken the pills as directed and am still feeling no better, not sure where to go from here ,my RNY doctor in about 2 hours from my home so I really am not in shape to go see him not sure if he is who I need anyway and my primary is ok but not great. any suggestions would be helpful.
thanks sorry this is so long but really sick and really looking for some advice

I am so sorry to hear you are feeling so ill..
Have you called the RNY DR... It would probably be best to go back to the ER if you are not better..
What did your primary say... How about a Gastroenterologist.. do you have one in the area,.. even if he isn't the one you went to when you had your surgery it sound like they might be able to help
Best wishes for a speed recovery...

If you haven't called ur wls yet, I trhink you should. If anything to let them know what is going on. They might be able to call your pcp an help him of her take better care of you w/o seeing the wls dr. If that makes sense.
Gastro by itself is nasty I had it before, add the Hiatal hernia and a uti is crazy.
unfortunely it may take a few more days for the meds to work.
if the vomitting continues, you may have to go back to the hospital to get hydrated again
Best wishes

hi
im sorry your feeling so ill. thats no fun for sure.
however, i think 2 1/2 years out from your surgery, you need a good primary doctor to treat you or perhaps a gastro. unfortunately with the combo of things you have it will take a good few days to see an improvement.
if you have a hernia, it may need treatment, but some hiatal hernias are just around for years and cause no problems. i have had one for many many years.
work on keeping your fluids down, gatorade, powerade zero things like that are helpful when you are so sick. weak decaf tea also works but keep those fluids going.
if you do not improve go back to the hospital because you need to slowly add some proteins back to your diet. it sounds to me like you may have caught a flu of some kind or a nasty virus. they can mess you up more than lots of other things, and still no cures for them.
hope you feel better soon, jacki
