Rocky Mount Area

Are there any support groups in Rocky Mount? I am trying to get information for me to use to assist me in making my decision about having the surgery. I want the good and the bad experiences.

I want to welcome you to the NC Forum. I hope that you will find it to be as supportive and informational as I have found it to be.

I'm not sure if there are any in the Rocky Mount area, but I have one in Raleigh that meets the 3rd Saturday of every month and we do have several members from the Rocky Mount/Wilson area that attend. If you are interested in attending our meetings, please go to http://wls.meetup.com/101 and sign up for the group. You will be notified of all of the upcoming events. We are a large, diverse group. We are not associated with any particular practice or surgery type. We have members who are pre-op, newly post-op and what are known as grads ... those who had their surgery at least 1 year out.

I look forward to getting to know you ... on this forum and hopefully in person at an upcoming support group meeting... Speaking of that, we have a holiday get together Dec. 6th and would love to see you.

I had my surgery at Nash General Hospital.  I was very pleased with the care and the results.  I am 15 months out from surgery and just about 20 pounds from goal.   The support group meets at Nash General Hospital on the first Monday of the month and 6:00 PM.   There  is an information seminar afterwards at 7:00 PM.  If you are interested in the seminar call Nash General at 443-8000 and ask for the Weight Loss Center.  They will put your name on the list for the seminar.   The support group is open to anyone who is thinking about surgery or has had the surgery.   We gather in the front lobby of the hospital about 5:50 and then we go to the classroom for our seminar.   I also belong to the Meet Up group that Barb C posted about before me.  Both groups were very helpful to me in making my decisions.  Come join either one we would love to have you.  If you have any questions you can send me a message through this site.
