Bp and pulse question
My pcp has been changing my bp meds since it keeps dropping with my weight. The last couple of days I have been lighted headed when I stand up and have felt like my pulse is racing. I went this morning to Cvs and checked it, my bp was 118/77 which I know is good, but my resting pulse was 104 does that sound normal? or should I be concerned?
Thanks Jeff

Hi Jeff,
According to the National Institutes of Health a normal BP is
and
So you are good there,
But a normal pulse for an adult should be between 60 and 100.... Mine is usually around 65 ... 104 sounds a bit high. I'd give your Dr a call just to be sure.

This is my experience... But if it keeps up definately contact your doctor. COuld be low iron or something.... Before my WLS my bp was always high even on meds and as I dropped the weight my bp came on down down down too. My Dr changed my meds a few times and then about 5 months out I was off all meds (bp, diabitis, acid reflux, cholestrol...). I used to get very light headed and my heart would race too... I went through all kinds of tests and if you're like me then it's just your body adjusting to your new weight - it's changing fast. The trick for me was to get up slowly, sit on the edge of the bed for a couple minutes and then I'd get up. If I was already in a sitting position I didn't have much problem, it was just if I was laying down. Oh, another thing I did was that I kept (keep) a water bottle next to my bed and after I sit up I take a few sips and that helps (I don't know if it's the water or just the sitting for a few seconds but it worked.. lol).
Have a great day!
