Jennifer, your post "Not Doing Well" isn't working right...
We cannot scroll down to reply to you under that post. I can read it however, so I will reply to you here...
First of all, I am so glad you decided to post on this message board. I know you will get all the support you could ever hope for if only we could get your message to work!
Secondly, I know I've said it before, but I was just so tickled to meet you at the gala on Friday. I could tell from what I'd seen and heard from you and about you beforehand that you were a very special gal...and I was right! I've really appreciated your sweet messages just before we met, and your sweet emails just after. I hope we will be friends for a very long time!
You have done so well with your weight loss thus far. 123 pounds in one year is nothing to sneeze at! I am where you were at the beginning right now...telling myself "I will eat so good afterwards, always take my vitamins, always exercise..." I'm here to tell ya, sister, LIFE HAPPENS!!! And when it does, we have to pick ourselves up by the bootstraps and start over sometimes!
You know the drill, backwards and forwards. I can tell by your post. Neither fad dieting nor riduculous amounts of exercise work because how long can you keep up either? You have your tool now and it's through lifestyle changes that you can make it work. Since you know what you need to work on, make a list of where you are falling short right now, in order of importance. Vitamins, protein, water, activity, etc.? Choose how many you can handle to work on at one time, master them again (or for the first time!), then move on to the next thing(s).
As for self-image, I will have you know that my very handsome 19yo son saw your photo this weekend and exclaimed, very enthusiastically I might add, "Oh wow, she is cute!"
I kid you not! (Restraining the matchmaker that in me! lol) You are such a beautiful girl...inside and out...and that is rare these days.
We don't have another Hickory Surgical support group meeting until January, but they are held on the third Thursday of every month at 6:30 p.m. Hubby and I have high-tailed it over there the past several months and it has been such a blessing! Is there any way you could make it to that one?
And, last but not least, do NOT put added pressure on yourself worrying about what other people think. Just tune back in to how you feel and what you want for yourself, and go with that. Remember, I'm here for you anytime, rain or shine!

(Shauna, thanks for getting this thread started so we can reply!)
Jennifer - VENT AWAY! There is no right or wrong way to start posting!! Hell, one of my VERY first posts to the NC board was me having a mental and emotional meltdown about how scared I was about WLS...LOL. I got so many replies from so many strangers (at the time) that offered advice and a shoulder. You have come to the right place.
But Shauna could not be more right- life happens, and often it slaps ya square across the face! ;) 123 pounds is an ENTIRE PERSON!! So no matter how badly you feel now, you can't let yourself forget all the progess you have made.
Go to the Home Depot and try to pick up 3 bags of concrete mix, that * MAY *be 1/2 of what you lost.
Betcha you can't do it.............
You are still a success story. Can you imagine for a second that you ever lugged that extra weigh around???
Like I said, sounds like a success story to me!
Glad you are on the NC board, and I hope we will see more of you around!!!

I know that those moments can be tough, but if we keep them in perspective ( which I never do ) we see that they are just that moments. A few months ago we had a business setback and I was ready to jump off the roof, thought the sky was falling and now thanks to my friends and DH, I look back and think I was just palin looney. At the time I was a lunatic and now I realize that it's all the moments good and bad that make up our worlds and lives.
Just the thought of lifting 123lbs makes me shake and to think that you lost a whole person is very impressive and I for one am proud of you
