Hi Amy!  It's a pleasure to "meet" you.  Very happy you have jumped on board the NC forum.  I've been going through the process toward surgery for the past 4-5 months and I honestly don't know what I would have done without the support of the wonderful people here.

I have had a hard time or two with going ahead and going through with this surgery.  Part of it was feeling I was making an admission of failure...how could I let myself get so unhealthy so as to need a surgery to turn things back around...after YEARS of trying, I was still asking myself, "I honestly can't do this on my own?!"  It was Barb who first told me that, regarding losing weight and keeping it off, only 3-4% succeed without the surgery, 80% succeed with it.  That keeps me feeling good about my decision and thankful that surgery is an option!  I'm now on day 5 of my 10-day liquids in preparation for my surgery next Friday!

I'm wishing you the very best of luck and looking forward to hearing all about your journey!

Welcome Amy.  I just came to Bragg from Germany this summer, but I live on post.  I was at the educational meeting this past week, also and will be at the pre-op support group this coming week.  You are coming to it, aren't you?  The checklist is just like what it is called.  They give us a list of things that have to be done before the surgery at orientation and we just go through it checking each thing off as we finish the appt's or whatever it is.  Mine is almost done, but I am to the scary point of finding out if I pass the psych. portion or preparing for the surgery.
I hope to see you around more often, you will love this board!

Hi Amy and welcome to the NC Board.  Congrats on making the decision to pursue WLS.  I would do it again in a heartbeat.  It has been the best decision I could have ever made for my health and self esteem.  I hope your journey goes as smoothly as mine has gone!

Good evening! My name is Julie from North Carolina! I had Lapband Surgery on Oct 31, 3009 so far I have lost 25 lbs. We moved to NC from TX 1.5 years ago and NC seems like the place to be for now. Can't wait for my husband to finish college. It is almost over!

Best of luck!

Julie
