Well Dr. Miles says he didn't find anything and I'm really frustrated now because I know there is something wrong with me being as sick as I've been and he told me to do the full liquids and also the puree if I could handle it. He told my son that if in a month I was losing like a pound a day he would look at it closer, so guess that means he would be more concerned about it then. So I'm not any better off then I was before I went this morning. Oh and guess what, I started a period this morning while at the hospital and I'm suppose to be in menopause and haven't had one in almost 4 yrs so what in the heck is that from? I guess I'm just feeling disgusted at the moment.

Oh My Cindy,
I am not an expert but from my understanding I hardly ever had normal periods untill I started loosing weight in fact they became so normal you could set your clock by them.
From what I understand is that fat has lots of estrogen in it and when we got morbidly obese we dont have regular cycles because of the amount of estrogen we have.
So maybe it is a good sign you got your period again.

It is never too late to be what you might have been.?

Hi Cindy,

I guess you got good news/bad news .... Good news that they didn't find a 'serious problem,' bad news that you didn't get an answer/solution to the struggles you've been enduring. If it were me, I'd keep a journal documenting my intake and how I was feeling so that if things continued to be an issue that they might be able to use that  information to troubleshoot the problem. Please make sure that you are staying hydrated and getting in as much protien as possible via protien rich drink supplements. If you can only handle liquids and are having trouble with your vitamins and minerals, there are liquid versions available, so please consult your Dr or Nut to get some guidance in that area.

Wishing you a gentler road during the upcoming month,

Barbara

Rats!  I was hoping you would get some answers.  It may be that you just have to go back to step 1... at least for a while...  But I can imagine how frustrating this must be for you.  Stay hydrated whatever you do and use those protein supplements.  How are you tolerating the liquids and purees?

I can keep liquids down if I've had nothing to eat that day, but after something goes in my stomach that's it, I can eat ice and that's about it. I've not gotten a protein shake in today and just threw up from trying to eat some puree chicken, so I guess I'll just be sticking with the full liquids and for how long who knows, already mainly been on them the whole 6 weeks since this surgery. I just want to sit down and cry because I really thought the doc was going to find another stricture and fix me.

Sounds like your new plumbing is taking awhile to heal and adjust.  I'm so sorry, Cindy.  Like everyone says, keep hydrated and work on the protein (through supplements if you have to) the best you can until things begin to work right for you.  I've read that sometimes it takes a couple of months before the vomiting subsides for some people.  Ugh.  I can't even imagine.  {{{Big Hugs}}}

Band to DS
on 11/14/08 9:23 pm, edited 2/4/12 2:20 am

Unfortunately, I had to delete this post due to privacy concerns.

Got a lap band in 2008. Tried hard, but didn't lose much weight & developed swallowing problems. Fought my insurance company for almost a year & finally had a band to DS revision on 5/11/12. Have now lost 125 pounds. Yay!
