Congratulations Dena!  I'm really happy for you and glad I got to meet you, your sister, your husband and mother when I had my surgery on Oct. 1.  It was kind of like having friends there in the hospital!  I wish you the best of luck and success in your new position.  By the way, I'm down 32 lbs since I last saw you!

Thanks, Lisa ... and check YOU out -- 32 lb gone already?!?  Wow, you are moving right along!  I hope everything is continuing to go well.  If not, you know what to do -- you call Dr. B. immediately!

You truly got the whole-family experience.  lol  To those of you who don't know, my sister is another nurse on the unit I work on and also takes care of bariatric patients (and had the Realize band herself), my husband is a nursing student and also works at the hospital on the cardiac unit, and my mother is a volunteer who does clown therapy and visits patients in the hospital.  Lisa happened to be in the hospital when we were ALL working so she got to experience us all.

Um . . I don't recall granting permission for you to leave the bariatric unit .  .    I am really happy for you.  Keep us up to date on what happens, ok?

LOL, Robin.  I really should have asked my patients how they felt about it first, shouldn't I?  I will still make my appearances upstairs and go visit those that I know are coming in for surgery.  I love meeting everyone in person and seeing them finally get to that point of this journey.  It seems like it takes forever just to get on this side of it, doesn't it?  Even though we are not exactly excited at that point of the journey, newly postop and with that new pain...there is still such excitement!  To finally realize that we've done it, now let the games begin!

Band to DS
on 11/14/08 9:18 pm, edited 2/4/12 2:20 am

Unfortunately, I had to delete this post due to privacy concerns.

Got a lap band in 2008. Tried hard, but didn't lose much weight & developed swallowing problems. Fought my insurance company for almost a year & finally had a band to DS revision on 5/11/12. Have now lost 125 pounds. Yay!

That is great Dena and I know you will enjoy your new job even more.   It is wonderful to see people who have passion for their work.
