Afternoon Migraine

Around noon today I went downstairs to make myself a protein shake when it hit came out of nowhere.  I barely got through making the shake when I decided to call my hubby.  Could barely talk above a whisper but managed to explain what was happening.  Thank goodness he offered to get the kids from school and bring them home for me then go back to work.  I hated doing it, but I didn't see any other alternative.  I got back upstairs, took the Tylenol PM, made the room as dark as possible and laid down wishing I could die!  Migraine sufferers, you know the drill.

I was so upset because the Hickory Surgical Gala is tomorrow night and we are planning on attending.  I want to feel better so I can have fun!  Picked up the phone and called Meredith at the clinic to ask her what they normally advise for a diet-induced migraine.  Answer:  A grilled chicken breast for dinner.  Yep, you heard me, CHICKEN.  ( chicken  <--- I wanna smooch it, not eat it!)  So guess what?  I ate chicken.  lol  You now know how desperate this veggie was for relief.

Hubby also brought me the Head On stuff (ahem, ladies...be good) and I'm happy to say that after eating, applying, and resting, I'm left with the vague remnants of a migraine but am hoping I will feel a lot better by tomorrow.

Good news is, the hunger has not been difficult to manage whatsoever thus far.

Thanks so much for indulging me this week and helping me to get through this.  Like I always say, don't know what I'd do without you all and I appreciate each and every one of you beyond words.

So glad to hear you have found relief, even if it was from chicken LOL.  Hmm, you are what you eat....does this mean we should all go to this gala to see you strutting around clucking?  JK, but couldn't help myself!

I hope you don't have any more problems with the headaches and especially those stupid migraines that none of us ever want to have again!!!!!!!!

Now that was a good one!    Thanks so much, Saprina...who in their right mind would ever WANT a migraine?!  UGH!

I always used a wash rag dipped in ice water and laid on my eyes and forehead!  Must be my "Head On" LOL.  It worked for me.  Dark room and a cold rag!  The best thing I could do for a migraine was throw up and I had to be one that could not make myself throw up, wouldn't you know it.  Oh well when it got bad enough I would finally up chuck and it would go away!
Dr gave me emitrix and they got fewer and farther apart. Haven't had a true migraine for about 3 years now.  I hope I did not just jinx myself!

Hope you feel much better in time for the Gala.

Oh yes, I was dying for an ice bag earlier, Vera, but I didn't want to go down and get it for myself.  I was really having to battle not throwing up earlier.  I just didn't feel like it...I'm on liquids, feel weak to begin with, etc.  I had one that made me hurl at the surgeon's office that one day.  Ugh.  Miserable!  If I keep on having these, I will most likely have to ask the dr. for something.  My mom is well known for her migraines.  She's been all over as a patient, even to the Mayo clinic, and she had an experimental surgery in Atlanta where they shave her head and cut some nerves to try to get her some relief, to no avail.  I've always thanked my lucky stars I haven't ever had them like her and I hope so much I never will!  Poor thing.  Thanks for your well wishes!

((((((SHAUNA)))))) I am SOOOO relieved that you are doing better!!!!!!!! I was going to call later and try to catch Allen to check on you!

So Chicken breast huh??? How did that go down? Can you even remember the last time you had chicken? At any rate, I am glad that you took the docs advice!

Be kind to yourself tonight! Keep the lights low, quiet surroundings - don't give that migrane any opening to return!!

I will cease the "trouble making" until you are feeling better

Kim, I have had chicken that has been IN things (like a pot pie) in the not so distant past.  I just pick out all the pieces I can see and pretend it's all veggie after that.  lol

I have mental issues (note:  "mental issues"  lol)  that go way back in relation to meat.  Like, I couldn't eat it sometimes when I'd prepared it from scratch.  Or, I couldn't eat it if someone talked about it at the table...that it had been an animal, etc.  When I eat egg salad, if my teeth crunch on the slightest bit of egg shell, it sends me into hysteria.  All I can think about are those poor little peepers trying to break through the shell.  I know eggs are sterile these days, but I'm just weird this way!!!  hehehe  I've been veggie full-time since January of this year.  Always wanted to be and I will confess, if I HAD to eat meat for health reasons in the future, I would.  I'd just have to work through those "mental issues" like I used to in order to be able to eat it.

Call me certifiable.  I don't mind.

Thanks so much for thinking about me!  My shows are on tonight so I'm going to curl up in 5 minutes and enjoy!

LOL Shelia.  I know.  And I haven't even been able to choke down any Jell-O this week!  I will admit, I had to go *someplace else* in my head while eating it.  It wasn't one of those, "I'm starving, this tastes so good," moments!  Poor little bawk, bawk.

Allen went after work to buy himself a nice pair of black pants and socks for tomorrow night.  I can't wait to see him semi-dressed up.  We'll have to take some pictures of all of us together!
