I have always been fine with eating pasta. What kind of pasta? Any of your 'bread' carbs should always be whole grain - make sure the package does NOT say enriched, there are many 'whole wheat' pastas that are really not - an easy way to tell is by how much fiber is in them. Personally I like the barilla brand as well as the dreamfields low carb (if you are worried about that)... I bought some whole wheat w/flax pasta at trader joes but have not tried it yet.
Since you main focus should be protein then serve your pasta with plently of protein - you can make it with spaghetti sauce and ricotta cheese and ground meat (if allowed).. rachel ray has a great 'skillet lasgana' recipe, while hers isnt WLS friendly you can easily modify. If you are allowed veggies you can easily sneak them into the sauce - I shred zucchini, squash, carrots and chop up spianch into mine. You could make a baked chicken parm (or even just bake chicken breast w/sauce and LF cheese) and serve with a small side of the pasta.
Pasta can be hard for many so keep that in mind... also make sure you are eating a proper portion.. typically you want more 'topping' than pasta since thats where the majority of your protein will come from. Also have to keep an eye on the carb content.
