New to the WLS
Once my Doctor gave me the okay and sent out a referral to my insurance, I decided to find some sort of support group and I stumbled across this one. So far I have talked to one person on here, and that was before my referral was approved.
So it got approved, but my silly insurance company gave me a Surgeon that doesn't do Lap Band! I had to call them and try to fix it. I chose Dr. Harris in Wilmington because I had read quite a few real good reviews on him. I have to wait a couple days for the change to go through, but I already called his office and left a message.
A little about me: I have PCOS and am at my wits end with it. I have to take 4-5 medications per day and in the last 5 years, I feel I have got a lot worse medically. I even have a really hard time trying to carry my 10 month old little girl up the stairs to put her to bed.
My family doesn't live close to hear and my husband, well lets just say he will be MIA till early January. So that is one reason I am reaching out to all of you.
Any information/sdvice on Dr Harris and Lap Band is most appreciated.

I'm sorry you're having to deal with PCOS, it's a booger for sure! I've been dealing with it for over 40 years so I understand your pain. If I can help please PM me any time. Also there is a board for PCOS too, I've visited that board a few times.

Jamie, I'm so glad you have reached out to the NC guys & gals for support because, my friend, you've got it now! You have a beautiful little family and I'm so happy for you that you are taking the steps to become a healthier you. Bravo! Good luck as you move forward toward your surgery. Are you trying to make any of the support group meeting for Dr Harris's patients? If so I will see you there, I missed the last one but plan on being at the next one. They are the second Monday night at the hospital. I think Dr. Harris is great! He was very professional at frist and I wondered if he was all business and had a sense of humor at all. Trust me he does!!! I had lapband with him on Aug 12th and had my 2nd fill yesterday. I now have 5 cc in a 10 cc band.
I am sorry you are having to deal with PCOS. I hope that this surgery will help with all your medical problems.
Let me know when you are scheduled for surgery and if I can I will get to Wilmington to check on you. Also, if you need an angel let me know and I will pm my numbers.

Actually, I have since changed my mind and am trying to get into Ft Bragg for VSG. Lap Band doesnt sound all that appealing to me anymore. I did a lot of research and got a lot of feed back about it, but thank you so much for your support. If by some chance I do end up going back to Dr Harris, I cant even get in for the initial consult till mid Feb, LOL
