Bad News! Ben just found out he's losing his job

I don't know when, but Ben was inadvertantly put on an email distribution list indicating that he'll be being let go ... It was a part of a email 'discussion of his FMLA' status.

Ben is a technical writer with over 20 years experience. If anyone knows of a position, please let us know. I'll be glad to provide a current resume.

I don't know how and/or if this may impact his upcoming surgery scheduled for 12/11.

Oh Barb.  What devastating news.  I sincerely hope that this does not impact Ben's upcoming surgery.  Is there any way to contact the surgeon's office to tell them of your dillemma and get him into the OR asap?  Just thinking out loud here...which I know you must be as well.  Best of luck and wishes on Ben finding an even better job quickly.  My thoughts are with you both!

Hi Shauna,

I wish that they could get him in earlier, but it is my understanding that there are no earlier slots available. Duke is incredibly booked up and backlogged. I'm most concerned about his getting another position which is why I decided to post here. I'm hoping that he will be able to find something through networking.

But of course.  I don't know what I was thinking.  We also want Ben to have the mental/emotional strength to get through the surgery with the best results, so first and foremost is to get the weight of this situation (no pun intended) off of his shoulders.  I hope the networking leads him to something wonderful, Barb.  (Kim, you are a gem!)

Kim,

I can't thank you enough!!! This is EXACTLY the kind of help and support I was looking for when I posted. I'm hoping that we'll be able to survive this through networking.

Thank you again from the bottom of my heart!

Barb, I am sorry to hear about Ben.  Times are hard for us all, but losing a job is really difficult.  I will keep him in mind if I see anything out there.
