So I got my first fill a week ago.  I got 2cc's.  I can't tell a difference.  In fact, I am hungry.  I called my doctor and they said they can do another fill next week if I want.  I am really not sure what to do.  Should I just wait until Dec. 2nd for my regular visit and get another fill then.  I am just worried about my weight loss over the next couple of weeks if I don't feel restriction.  Anyone have any ideas??

Thanks,
Amanda

Hi!

I just had my 3rd fill today (I now have 6 cc's).  I haven't had any restriction, but I'm hoping that this one does the trick.  The frustrating thing about the band is you basically have to diet until you get restriction.  I talked to my doc about that today.  He was reassuring.  He said to keep working out and following the rules (not drinking with meals, small bites, chew well, protein first) and it will come.
As far as worrying about your weight, I definitely know how you feel.  I had gained at the time I had my 1st fill.  I've lost those few pounds again, but nothing more.  My doc said not to worry that once I get restriction the weight will come off.
I was a little misinformed when I got my band in June.  I thought after the 1st fill I'd have restriction, but, unfortunately, that's not the case.  It can take several fills.  We just have to be patient.
As far as getting a fill, I'd go ahead and make the appointment for next week.  If you're feeling more restriction by the then, then you can cancel.  If not, get the fill.  I've had trouble getting in to get fills because my Doc is between Greenville and Rocky Mount, so I've had to go 6 weeks between fills.  Ugh!
Also, just as a side note, I've read several posts on the Lapband forum that said it can take a few weeks for a fill to kick in, but these seems to vary from person to person and most people don't get restriction with the 1st fill anyways, but you may want to post your question there, too.
Hope this helps.  Good luck!

Amanda........as I stated on an earlier post to you, the fill does not always kick in immediatly! If I were you, I would wait untill Dec. 2nd. You don't want to end up like what I just went through......get through Thanksgiving, then get your fill. I know you want your weight just to drop off, but as long as you're loosing something....stick with that untill the 2nd.  2 cc's is quite a bit, too. I just don't want you to go through what I did, ok?

Nancy,

First I apologize, I am an extremely impatient and stubborn person.  I guess I am just worried and feel like I am going to gain.  Like all the diets before I expect the bottom to drop out any minute.  I got on the scale this morning and it is 3 pounds more than it was 5 days ago.  I don't think that I have gained 3 pounds that quick but it is scary.  I am going to be starting my period any day now and am thinking that it might just be water weight on top of the fact I always seem to be extra hungry during that time.  I am going to ride it out a little longer and see what happens.  I do understand that you have been through quite an ordeal lately and I am so sorry that it happened to you.  You are still doing great!!  Thanks for the support!

No matter what you choose to do, JUST BE CAREFUL! As you probably know, during this ride, you're going to go up and down many times and sometimes you think you're finished but you're not.  Hang in there and enjoy the ride!
