Calcium Absorption

I tried to Google this but didn't find the answer.  How much calcium can our body absorb at one time?  I'm splitting my 5 tablets into 3 doses a day, but trying to figure out if I forget a dose, can I just add it to the next one or would that be a waste.  Thanks!

Answering my own question...I finally found it via Google.  I knew there was a reason I was splitting my doses like that...the body absorbs 500mg at a time and there is 630mg in 2 Citracal tablets.  Adding a missed dose to the next would probably indeed be a waste.  I'm going to have to work hard on remembering all 3!

Right now I am taking my multi vitamin in the morning, 2 Citracal at lunch, 1 in the afternoon, and 2 at bedtime.  The 1 in the afternoon is what I'm having a hard time remembering!

If anyone else has any additional knowledge on this, post away!  Right now, it looks like this is the answer to my question!

I know you already found the answer - wanted to post this for others reading

Absorption from supplements is best in doses 500 mg or less because the percent of calcium absorbed decreases as the amount of calcium in the supplement increases [117,118]. Therefore, someone taking 1000 mg of calcium in a supplement should take 500 mg twice a day instead of 1000 mg calcium at one time.

Ok Shauna, I think I can help!  I set a reminder in my datebook on my cell phone at the time I am supposed to take my meds of any kind.  It will ring what ever reminder I tell it to and I just turn it off and go take my meds!  Kinda like an alarm clock except a message comes up and tells me what I am supposed to be doing!  I even put drs appts in so I don't miss them!!  I have CRS!!!!  LOL
