5 lbs extra on scales this morning grrr!
How long will it take for the 1 liter of IV fluids to get back out of my body? I was shocked to see a 5 lb gain this morning but I did notice my hands and legs were swollen more than usual. I was told by the nurse yesterday not to be taking any fluid pills. I know its not real weight gain but still its a little upsetting :(.

I'm sorry that you are upset about the water weight, but it should disappate as quickly and 'easily' as it appeared.

When I had my GB removed I left the hospital up 9lbs.. a few dropped off quickly but it took almost 2 weeks for the full 5lbs to go away. Id say 1-2 weeks, you know its not real weight so dont be upset, stay off the scale if its bothering you - when you see the swelling go down then go weigh again.
First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1
2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5
Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!
Goal weight - 155 (mine) 180 (surgeons)
Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)
1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)
