Kim,  We may not be speaking within the next 10 days.

Oh lordy, I seriously am expecting the worse, and have warned the family,  but I am sooo hoping for the best.

If any of you see a 13itchy side of me you've never seen before  ...if you notice that I am no longer "blowing rainbows out my @$$"  ...just remember I love ya and I am not myself!    "This too shall pass."

Now, we return to our formerly scheduled programming...

Shauna,

I know it's a steap, arduous climb from here to surgery, but I also know that you can make it and that you'll be delighted with the side benefit of the extra pounds lost that you get to add that total lost column!

I did a few things to help me through the dreaded liquid diet... Maybe they would help you too.

* I kept my list of 'why' I was doing this and I reviewed it every morning, evening and any time I was feeling 'weak.'

* I made a list of things that I thougth might possibly sabotage my efforts and then tacked on a plan of attack to mitigate those sabotaging thoughts/actions/cir****tances.

* I made of list of distractions that I really enjoyed ... things I could do instead of eat that would soothe me, might not completely disolve the hunger pangs, but would at least give me something else positive to do.

* I cleaned out the pantry of all 'contraband' and donated to the local food bank. Someone else could surely use those cake mixes, cookies, etc... Out of sight, more like to stay out of mouth ... if you know what I mean?!

* I also got myself some low/no calorie beverages I really liked and had them often... Decaf teas and coffees with SF syrups. Rich, homemade broths, etc...

Hang in there sweetie... You are on your way!

Barb,  Thanks so much for taking the time to offer me ideas and encouragement!

I haven't actually made real lists (paper or otherwise) but I have been making mental lists about everything you talked about...focusing on the why, how I am going to avoid sabotage, and thinking of distractions.  Was just speaking to hubby about all these things earlier this evening, as a matter of fact!

We spent this past weekend cleaning out the pantry.  It's odd to say that we didn't have any "contraband," considering my weight issue, but we did use up everything we could to throw into 2 spinach/swiss quiches, a huge pot of veggie/rice soup, a big bowl of tuna salad and one of pasta salad, then made two batches of banana bread and an apple/berry crisp.  The family is set with lunches for the entire week now!

I stopped at the new flagship Ingles this afternoon (passed Mr. Ingle and congratulated him on the beautiful store!) and picked up just the things you said.  I normally drink only water but I have tried several flavors of Crystal Light this past week.  I know I will be thankful for the flavor!

Again, thanks a million for helping me through this all!

Giiirrrlll, I have your # on speed dial...you have been warned!

Was just telling hubby on the way home this evening that there is NO WAY I am going to sabotage myself any at all over the next 10 days.  I'm still glad you'll be there to slap, just in case.

Can I slap ya too?  huh, can I?

There are  some really nice teas that would be comforting in the evenings to drink.  The "Numi" and "Tazo" teas are especially nice.

love ya,

Nancy

For gosh sakes, people.  As if the liquid diet isn't torture enough?

Ahhh, the teas do sound like they would be awesome, thanks for the suggestion!  Our 19yo son is a huge tea buff so I can just raid his stash.  hehe

Hubby brought me home a gift certificate for a spa pedicure with the works a week or so ago.  I saved it to use this upcoming weekend because I knew I was going to NEED it then!

<-- Me this week, to prevent this --->
