got protein????
oh how frustrating!
Since I came off the three week post op liquid diet, I have been absolutely unable to get even near the required protein in on a daily basis. I am supplementing with protein shakes over the past couple days but I am soooooo sick of them that at times I actually gag.
I know what to eat and I know how to eat it. My surgeon and NUT tell me that due to the complications I had in surgery that I am probably a lot more swollen than most folks 28 days out would be and that I just might need more time.
I get about half into my pouch what I should be able to... what's that about 1/8 a cup of solids? and I feel full. Some things I can get a 1/4 cup but one day I can and one day I cannot. Four bites of food today and I felt so full I got nauseous and felt so awful.
I'm back to work half-days - - this is my last week of half-days - - and at the end of that half day I am exhausted. I am walking. Some days are better than others. I will say this - - when I'm not exhausted and not bending in a way that hurts, I FEEL BETTER THAN EVER!!!
So the surgeon and NUT have me taking Phenergan on a 'round the clock basis. That is helping.
I'm just venting. Thanks for being there.
On the up side, I was in a size 26 - now am in anything from 22 to 18. Some 24 in close cut things. Yesterday I realized that my thighs were not rubbing together. I feel like I'm on another planet!!!!

I'm with you on the protein drink thing. Somtimes I'm just sick of them. I'm 1 year out, but I have no issues now getting in my protein. I end up with around 85 to 100 on any given day easily.
Add protein powder to sugar free pudding, oatmeal, cream of wheat....
Just this morning I made my cream of wheat with milk and added 1/2 scoop of vanilla Isopure. Between the milk and the Isopure and the protien already in Cream of Wheat, It was 25g.
Hang in there though! It gets easier!
