Annie,  I can't imagine this journey without you...thank you for being here for me!  You are the first person I talked to on the phone from OH.  I'll never forget how you reached out to me with such care and concern.  As far as my nutrition is concerned, just go by all the menu suggestions for an RNY patient, but cut out the meat products (turkey, chicken, beef, pork, etc.).  As of right now, I do seafood about once or twice a week and I do eggs on occasion.  I prefer to substitute animal products as much as possible (soy dairy substitutes, "Boca" and "Morningstar Farms" products, egg substitutes in baking, etc.), but I don't do it to the extent I would like to and don't know that I ever will.  I LOVE split peas, lentils, veggie baked beans, fat free refried beans, etc.  I was vegan once and you would be amazed how quickly you get in 60 grams of proteins a day on veggies alone!  Although, after RNY, that would be difficult if not impossible based on the volume of those types of food that it would take.  Anyway!  I am sooo excited to have my RNY and learn how to love my pouch and my new diet!  Thanks so much for your support!

Yes - tomorrow is the day - whoooo hoooo !

It is so exciting - Becky will come in and talk to you and whoever else is there tomorrow - there were 3 others there the day that I went for their pre-op.  I started off with the upper GI study - had to roll around on the radiology table... not a fun or easy feat as large as I am.  But the radiology girls were so sweet.
Then I did the class thing with Becky, Jock, and Julie, too.  Maybe it was then that I went upstairs and met with Lisa to sign a bunch of papers.  And then I had to go back to the hospital for lab work and talk to the anesthetist.

Now mine was sorta rushed since surgery was the next day, so maybe it will be easier on you....

It is so exciting... and Eli and Cody will manage just fine - don't worry abut them.

Love and Hugs,
Shelia

Shelia,  I was so glad to read your message last night before going to bed!  It gave me a good idea of what to expect today.  Thankfully Dr. Cook does not order the upper GI because I was so worried after you described it to me!  lol  Otherwise, I had all the other stuff done and it was a cakewalk.  Everyone at Frye is just soooooo nice!!!  Jock is in Jamaica, lucky dog, so I got to meet with Becky and Julie, then upstairs to see Dr. Cook's nurse and Lisa.  We got up at 4:30, were there before 7:00 and out of there by noon I think it was.  It all went so fast!  (Becky had a meeting to attend so she condensed her portion, but I totally got the gist of everything...am THRILLED to have my nutrition binder now!)  The kids did GREAT this morning.  I totally won't worry about them now the morning of surgery.  E's teachers agree that keeping him on his normal schedule that day is the thing to do.  Hope to talk to you soon and can't wait to see you next Friday!

Okay I will be praying for No World War #3. I hope that the oldest boy can get the youngest boy up with no problems.

I hope he doesn't act up because he knows you are going to the pre op and he doesn't want you to have the surgery.

I can't wait to see how the pre op goes. Only 3 more weeks.

OH Yeah and good luck with day one of pre op

Tamara,  No WWIII this mornin!  lol  They did wonderfully, thanks.  Hope the next few weeks fly by for you, my dear.  The pre-op today was so simple and even fun.  I enjoyed every moment!  One step closer to surgery, ya know that feels great.  I start my liquid diet on Tuesday.  If you want a play-by-play of how today went, give me a call sometime and I'll run ya through it!  {{{Hugs!}}}

I have my pre op appointment on the day of your surgery, so I'm right behind ya girl!!

What ages are your sons? I know you have said, but I missed it.

Everything will be fine! Oh, at least you don't have girls! LOL

Very cool about your pre-op date being my surgery date!  It's a comfort to know you'll be sharing the same experiences over the same general time as others, isn't it?  Our sons are 9 and 19, and we do also have two daughters, ages 15 and 20!  The younger 3 are still at home and I'm very happy to report that they all did BEEYOOTIFULLEE on their own this morning!  Good luck with your pre-op on the 21st...mine went so nice today...it was actually FUN!
