Pre-Op & Nut Class Tomorrow!

It's finally feeling REAL!  I have to be at the hospital at 7 a.m. tomorrow for my pre-op testing.  Our little man is NOT happy that his big brother will be getting him ready and off to school tomorrow (and the day of my surgery).  Once I know that went okay, I will rest easier, little stinker!

This afternoon, I have to stop by the bank because I want to take a certified check for the surgeon's funds.  I have been pleasantly surprised that our financial portion for both the surgeon and the hospital is far less than we have been anticipating!  PHEW!

I am sooo excited about meeting with the nutritionist.  I guess I will get to spend several hours with her.  Since I am vegetarian, I'm really looking forward to discussing a nutrition plan and I can't wait to see what they recommend for each stage of this journey...I know every plan is different.  My guess is I will be starting the liquid pre-op diet from as early as Friday but no later than Tuesday.

I have been spending some time thinking about exercise, fashion, spa days, etc. trying to focus on the upcoming new me...well, the OLD me that I've missed so much!  I'm really looking forward to this journey...thanks so much for being there to take it with me!

Darcie, And closer ever still!  It's fun to share everything with you all because you indeed know the excitement and anticipation.  I think it's great that so many of you stay on the forum long after to help encourage and mentor others through their process.  Ewww about the big blob of yellow plastic fat.  I would have to picture...GULP...one hundred and fifty of those things?!  OMG.  Again, makes me think of Oprah's wagon of fat.  Good grief, that is NASTY!  lol

Hi Shauna,

Your sons ... both of them, will do just fine. It's okay for the little guy to be nervous, but it's also okay for you to take care of yourself and that is what you are doing.

I look forward to hearing about your visit with you Nut.

Wishing you all the best,

Barb

Hi Barb!  The visit went sooo well today.  I was on cloud-nine the entire time!  lol  The counselor with the group suggested I be attached at the hip to the nutritionist for my first year and she is absolutely at my disposal so I will take full advantage of that!  They gave me a binder with my diet instructions and it's honestly looks like it will be very easy for me.  I have a lot of nutritional knowledge to start with (especially on veggie/vegan), so I just have to tweak it to fit with the RNY and that doesn't seem so difficult!  The boys did GREAT this morning and I have full confidence I can leave the morning of my surgery without a single worry about them.  E has been doing sooo much better about everything since our talk...he was a real gem to me this morning when he woke on his own right before we left to say goodbye.

Shauna,

I'm delighted to hear that it all went so well. I think that availing yourself of all of the resources at your disposal will empower and enable you to make the most of this opportunity you are about to seize.

I'm also glad to hear that your Dear E is doing better. It's so hard to see our children frightened. I remember when Sarah was sharing her fears and concerns with me and I thought for a bit that maybe I shouldn't continue, but then I realized that I needed to be able to be here for her in the long term and that this was my best shot at doing that and the rest is history. I do think that being open with them and allowing them to articulate their fears is a big help. I also think that it's better to let them articulate their concerns so that you can address them, than to have them let their 'fears' run away with their imaginations.

Your time is coming so quickly. I'm truly excited for you and look forward to watching your metamorphosis begin.

All the best,

Barb
