exercise buddy in New Bern???

Hey there New Bern area people.  I could really use an exercise buddy to join me at Courts Plus or for walking.  My surgery is in about 6 weeks and I want to be as strong and fit as possible before I do this.  I picked up a Courts Plus brochure yesterday and took a tour.  Since my physical therapy has been going pretty well, I've lost a few pounds, and my arthritis pain isn't as bad now I'd like to start going.  They have a nice pool, a room full of machines to play on, basketball court, racketball courts, showers, sauna, jacuzzi, aerobics room, etc.  The girl promised me there weren't just a bunch of skinny people there all the time too.  In fact, when I went yesterday around 4:00 there weren't many people there at all.  I'm really only interested in the pool and with machines right now.  I don't think I can handle an aerobics class yet, but I'll get there!  Soon I hope to be up for regular long walks too.  I have asked my husband to start coming with me, but I don't think I'm going to be able to count on him all the time.  He needs it just as bad as I do, but he's still not ready to make the lifestyle changes and food choice changes that I've made.  We went to visit my dad in the hospital yesterday afternoon and we went down to their cafeteria for dinner.  He chose lasagna, rice, and mashed potatoes with gravy.  **rolling my eyes**  When we're at home and I ask him to pick out some vegetables to go with dinner he picks rice, potatoes, corn, or Stove Top stuffing.  He's in for a RUDE awakening when he takes his first steps toward gastric bypass.  I'm not sure he's going to be able to do it.

I love K&w.....  It's nice to be able to go in and just get a bowl of soup or veggies, without paying $10 for a big meal!  I wish we had one here in Jacksonville.  This is off topic of exercise buddy, but wanted to invite you to the Onslow County meeting on Nov. 4. The original thread is a few back with the time.  If you could make it , it would be a good chance for you to get any questions/concerns answered.  Think about it!  It's very informal and we always have a great time!  Hope to see you there!
