Hernia surgery

I have a surgery date that is definate . Looks like Jan 8...the day before my birthday! It looks like I may have to pay for the excess skin. But It needs to be done since this is a larger hernia and I don't need all that excess skin reversing the healing process. I have not given up hope yet.  This makes the 3rd time fixing this monster. I still don't see where they are going to put all that large and small intestine.
Please keep me in your prayers.....this surgery scares me a lot worse than the wls did. I know how painful recovery was for the previous hernia surgery but I am adding the pani and am not happy about the incision hip to hip. Since I am not doing this cosmedicly ...It looks like I will loose my belly button.  Oh well it is just a slit anyway and who cares if I look like I am from planet X. I will never wear clothes to expose it anyway.  It will be nice not to have a basket ball with a skirt of duflap.
Thanks for listening

Myrtis,  I am sooo excited for you about this!  Can't imagine how much better you are going to feel, both physically and mentally, when this is all over with and you are healed.  I can understand your worry.  Hopefully the healing process will go smoothly and quickly for you.  This will almost be like another new birthday, huh?!  That will surely feel like a whole new you!

That is great Myrtis....i know you will be so happy to have this surgery done and over with.   Have you tried taking pics of the skin along with medical records from your doc regarding the hernia to see if insurance would pay?   My friend's sister was turned down for skin reduction until she sent pics and then a report from her doc and she ended up with them paying for an entire lower body lift and her bat wings.  She had lost 200 lbs so had a lot of excess skin. They would not pay for her thighs though.  Don't hurt to try.

Good luck and remind us after the holidays so we can be sure to pray for you.

Pam

The PS has sent 40 pages of info and photos of my ugly hernia and skin. Both surgens are going to write letters of nesessity also. I am planning to pay but hopeful I wont have to. I am not done trying yet.
I will call for more prayers after Christmas for sure. I believe in the power of prayers.

Hey there, Hernia Girl!  Well that date has vertainly been a long time coming, eh?  I know you will be happy to get rid of all that excess baggage and you'll soon be able to RIDE again!!!!   And who knows?  Maybe the Panni will wind up being covered by insurance after all!  We live in hope, right, girl?

Band to DS

Unfortunately, I had to delete this post due to privacy concerns.

Got a lap band in 2008. Tried hard, but didn't lose much weight & developed swallowing problems. Fought my insurance company for almost a year & finally had a band to DS revision on 5/11/12. Have now lost 125 pounds. Yay!

Thanks Sheli,
I keep getting different stories from BCBS FED people. The PS took photos and sent it in to INS. I went to pryor first but she said my hernia was to larger for her to handle so she sent me to Picket from the same facility.

Hi Myrtis,
When I had my panni removed they did cut me from hip to hip.
They removed 21lbs.
To this very day I am so glad that I had it done.
It feels like the more I work out the tighter my abdomin gets.
My surgeon did make a new belly button for me.
I am still working on getting an appointment with the ps but I am staying right on top of it.
You may want to ask your surgeon about doing the mons at the same time.
This is going to be the first thing I want done.
You will be thrilled after having your surgery.

It is never too late to be what you might have been.?
