I still have to jump through hoops, but I've found a PCP who will jump through them with me!

Yay (does the happy dance)

I'm glad to hear that Catt, was it my doctor I told you about?

She is the one that was recommended by my arthritis specialist.  I'm really happy with her.  Thanks for your referral though.

Hi Catt,

That's great! Having a PCP that is supportive and will work with you can make all the diference in the world.

Band to DS

Unfortunately, I had to delete this post due to privacy concerns.

Got a lap band in 2008. Tried hard, but didn't lose much weight & developed swallowing problems. Fought my insurance company for almost a year & finally had a band to DS revision on 5/11/12. Have now lost 125 pounds. Yay!

I didn't have insurance for a long while and am not originally from this area.  My healthcare has been sporatic.  The first doctor I went to here made me wait 3 months for the first appointment and I discovered then that she wasn't the dr I would want to work with.  It took another 2 months to see someone else.  I have a 6 month diet requirement with my insurance so that 6 months could have happened already :(

I'm glad that this Dr is willing to work with me and very supportive.  Two of her office employees have had WLS.  That helped instill confidence as well :)

Excuse my ignorance, but what does PCP stand for?  "Personal Couch Potato,"  "Personal Creole Preparer,"  "Private Cow Patty," "Poached Chocolate Pralines," "Perfect Cat Person," "Personal Calorie Planner," "Personal Candy Perscription"???  Please don't throw tomatoes at me for asking a stupid question.

lol!  I'm already a "Perfect Cat Person" so I didn't need one of them.  I so wish you could find a "Personal Calorie Planner" that didn't cost a fortune!  PCP is Primary Care Physician.  Required by some insurances, pretty much your regular dr and not a specialist.

I lived in the UK for several years and I still call my regular Dr. my GP (general practioner).  He's been my regular Dr. since I was 13.  He's also a heart specialist.
