what to do??
Those of you *****member..I went to Voc rehab today & met with a wonderful lady who will be handling my case.(I have no insurance)
Im kind of depressed about it.
The requirements are 40% BMI...I am
AND 2 or more sickness or disease..I'm pretty healthy believe it or not. (but I know with my family history that it's right around the corner)
Im trying to prevent that.
also 9 months of pre diet with a MD (thats another year!)
I haven't been to a doctor in 6 yrs...so she is going to get me set up with someone..
Im just so ready to do it NOW..any advice???

I am looking at the same stumbling blocks. I didn't have any insurance for years. I finally have it, but there are requirements that will keep me from having the surgery for at the very least 6 months, possibly more because I can't produce 3 years of medical records. I was ready to give up and say the hell with it. I thought about it a long long time and came to realize, that time is going to go by either way. I might as well participate in actively attempting to meet those requirements in that time.
Good luck!

Girls - I know it is a long time in trying to get this surgery done, but as Natt said - the time is going to pass by regardless....And I felt anxious about the time period, too. But was not that long....
My understanding is any weight records - whether from your PCP, your OBGYN doc or even the health dept.
Good luck.

I am with the other ladies. The time is going to pass regardless. I would hate for you to be sitting here 9 months from now looking back and wishing you'd laid the stepping stones. My advice is to put one foot in front of the other, doing what it takes to progress toward WLS. Go to the dr. and go through with the supervised diet. You may have the sickness/disease requirement found or met within those 9 months...I hope not, but you never know. Then, 9 months from now, you can make your own decision and not have it made for you by not meeting the requirements. :) Let us know what you decide! I am wishing you the best of luck!
Right now that 9 month supervised period seems daunting - I know. But look at it as a gift. Use the time to learn all that you can about WLS. Use it to learn about your own relationship with food (do you eat for comfort, because of stress, out of boredom etc). Use the time to relearn behaviors that you'll need post-WLS (not drinking within 30 minutes of your meals, eating slowly & chew, chew, chew, chew, chew)
The time passes much more quickly than you'd expect. At the end of the time period you'll be so much more prepared for this than you ever thougt possible.
Good Luck - Iris
