sugar free and no sugar added

I know I can have sugar free Popsicles, but at the store  I saw a box of fudgesicles and thought they said sugar free. I had one yesterday. Today I went to get one out and noticed the box said no sugar added. Are those ok or should I stick with the sugar free?

Thanks Jeff

They should be okay!!  Try one and if it sets well with your stomach, then you are okay!! Some will say that you may need to worry about the sugar alcohols! I think it depends on the individual!
ME,I could sit here with a cup of pure sugar and probably be just fine..My pouch is a complet pain in the rear...It really tries to be a superhero and thinks it can conquer ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING...lol
Have you tried the Sugar Free LIFESAVER popsicles??
They are YUM-O-RIFIC..LOL

When i was early out, i would check sugar g on the package and as long as lower then 5 or 6, i would give it a shot.   We are all so different and you just want to make sure you don't dump.   If you didn't dump with the first one, i wouldn't think you would after that.

Take care,

Pam

I've read varying information from sticking to no more than 3g to no more than 10g sugar content.  The difference in sugar-free versus no-sugar-added is that the latter has natural occurring sugars...that can be from fruits, nuts, milk, etc...whatever ingredient is in it that contains natural sugars.  Remember that just because something might agree with your pouch, that doesn't mean it is healthy and going to contribute toward weight loss.  I was told those sugar-free popsicles are a lifesaver pre & post-op!

I treat myself to the No sugar added fudgcicles from time to time and have no prob with them. I ate a lot of them before surgery. I really wish I could find a bag of sugar free banana flavored popcicles. All there ever is is the ones made with sugar. Boy would that be heaven.

I think about no sugar added like this. You want to make fruit jelly with splenda. Ok you cook the fruit down add the pectin and splenda and you have a no sugar added jam but the fruit still has the sugar that nature put into it.

No sugar is like a glass of water and some crystal light.. no sugar period. I agree with some of the other folks mainly because I am diabetic as well and have to get label stuff with less than 5 gms total sugar including the alcohols as well.

My surgeons nurse who had bypass surgery seven or so years ago eagerly will tell patients she wishes she had never reintroduced sugar to her diet. I just am not into dumping because my wife has had that several times over the past couple of years since her WLS and the last venture was due to some bacon that was sugar cured she got at a food place.

I also know some people that eat sugar just fine as well and dont seem to have a big issue with it. I guess its more personal selections and what you wish to get from them.

Keep in mind that dairy has sugar in it - so typically dairy based products will say "no sugar added"... same applies with fruit based items - fruit has sugar so they will typically also be "no sugar added". You should always follow your NUTs guidelines when it comes to maximum sugar per serving/meal.
