Advice, please, regarding pre-op and illness
I'm using a manual toothbrush now and hubby sterilized my battery one and replaced the head over the weekend. I'm not using it until I am 100% better! He also bought a huge can of Lysol and I am using my hand sanitizer regularly now. Our little gerbil, Keira, had to be rushed to the vet on Saturday and was diagnosed with strep! She is now in isolation in our daughter's room and on peanut butter flavored antibiotic, poor sweetie. She's doing much better, but it just goes to show, the germs are invading our home and noone's safe!
Thanks in advance for any advice!
Shauna,
I'm so sorry to hear that you are under the weather. If it were me I'd call the Dr's office and lay the cards on the table ... waiting, antibiotics, immunity issues, upcoming preop appointment... and get their input, then decide.
Feel better soon,
Barb

Oh Barb, if I call the dr., they are going to have me come in and put me on antibiotic! Ugh! I have to pick up E from school here in a few so I am going to debate it and then decide on whether or not to call today. I wi**** would just hurry up and go away on it's own, but I don't want to wait too long to get treated just in case it doesn't. In the meantime, Tussin DM is my friend! Thank you for your advice!
You too? That is how my rheumatic fever came to be. I had to be on daily antibiotic for several years afterwards to ward off strep and when I would get it...FEAR I tell you!!! I still have to take an antibiotic whenever I go to the dentist for a cleaning or anything like that. Ugh. I'm not a nail biter but my hands do go to my mouth on occasion so I will heed your words...thanks!
Unless you want to go on Anti-biotic (I hear the Peanut butter flavored oil kind works wonders

This is my vote-go to your pre-op, do what you can do and talk to your doctor about Plan "B" (aka rescheduling the surgery) if need be. Most of the pre-op work can still be completed at your Nov 6th meeting. Then you have 2 solid weeks to shake this bug that seems to love you.
And if you are still a little sniffly- go to plan B- the battle is over! No need to rush now (not what you want to hear, but you know I am right

I don't like your plan B, by the way.

Still debating on what to do, but I haven't called the dr. yet so it looks like I'll have to wait until tomorrow regardless.
Sorry to hear your sick! I had surgery 28 days ago and I was sick with a touch of bronchitis, sinus infection, sore throat, and a ear infection was on antibiotic's for 10 days prior and was not completely well when I had the surgery and three days afterwards I had an asthma attack and got MRSA in my neck from where they put a IVC filter in and been on 3 antibiotic's since surgery and now they think I have an ucler in my pouch so have to go see about that tomorrow. But I just want to say girl get on the drugs now before you have the surgery and hopefully you will be all better by then. On a good note I think I'm down about 30 lbs and I don't regret this decision because I haven't had to use oxygen when I work out at the gym and that's a blessing, my blood sugars are finally getting under control. So hang in there and keep us informed.
