I have a surgery date
Hi everyone,
A lot has happened in the last week. First, I had been planning all these months to have RNY surgery and have been really struggling with saying yes to this surgery. I have researched it, read about it, googled it, etc and wanted to say yes to it, but the bottom line is I just couldn't.
It's funny, when I finally came to grips with the fact that the only surgery I could say yes to (for me personally) was the lap band, everything all of a sudden fell into place. a few days later, I got insurance approval and then like a day later I got a date. My lap band surgery will be on December 1st - really soon!
I feel like that was a sign from the weight loss gods that I had made the right decision for me! :)
Now I have to refocus on this different surgery and different experience than what I was planning. I am very excited and hopeful.
The one thing that I will have to do more so on my own now that I'm getting lap band is to give up my coca-cola addiction and also ice cream, which can slide right through the band. I already have a plan with ice cream - to only eat it on special occasions, like birthdays. Tomorrow, I will begin cutting back on my cokes every few days (so as not to have a headache****il I'm completely off them.
Any coke addicts out there find another option satisfying?
Thanks,
Vickie

Vickie,
First of all, congrats on getting your surgery date and sooo soon. Ben is also having his surgery through Duke and they told him that the first available date was 12/11, so congrats on you 12/01 date!
Secondly, I too was a true coca-cola addict. While I 'can' have it now, I rarely do because the carbonation just doesn't set well. I've switched to decaf tea most of the time and it's fine. I never would have thought that I'd feel like this about cokes, but all's well that ends well.
Congratulations agian... it won't be long now!

Hi Vickie! I am so glad you found YOUR peace! That is so very important. Wishing you the very best with your band. I am excited and hopeful for ya! :) I always direct any ice cream lovers to Eggface's blog and her protein ice cream creations. As a fellow ice cream connoisseur, you can betcha I'm going to have to invest in an ice cream maker and try this eventually! Best wishes to you.
