Just a little rant

I seem to be doing well, getting my vitamins, staying hydrated and eating well... but i *Still* can't sleep on my side or stomach comfortably. Also tonight, a good friend of mine and I went to see "the secret life of bees" (excellent movie by the way) ... and after we stood up i got a stabbing pain in my lower left abdomen. i know it still has to be my muscles healing but it's so seriously getting on my nerves. when is this going to go away?

I had a little pity party for myself earlier, but decided to open up before i took it too far :)

Hi Karla Anne,

I hope you enjoyed the movie. I saw it tonight too and it had a couple of unexpected twists for me.

The discomfort should start abating soon ... I'd say within the next week or two. If it doesn't start to get markedly better, consult your surgeon, but remember that while you may not have been slit from stem to stern you indeed had major surgery and it will take a while to get back on track.

Take care,

Barb

My surgery was a little more than a week before yours and I am now able to move around (roll over) in bed with no discomfort. I think gravity when we stand up and things shift a bit causes some of the pain but as we heal it does get better. I still kind of hold my belly when I stand up to make sure I don't get pain but I am doing it less and less now. Get your suppliments and protein in so your body can use them to heal and it won't be long now.
I saw that movie with my daughter last week and it was really great. I really like the cast and the story was well told.

Band to DS

Unfortunately, I had to delete this post due to privacy concerns.

Got a lap band in 2008. Tried hard, but didn't lose much weight & developed swallowing problems. Fought my insurance company for almost a year & finally had a band to DS revision on 5/11/12. Have now lost 125 pounds. Yay!

I can feel that pain as I read this message.... I got in a screaming match at the hospital because it hurt so bad... it WILL get better!!! It lasted about a month for me... now I have it on my right side because of the gall bladder surgery.. I hope you feel better soon!!

It took a good 4 weeks for my pain to stop, and even then, I slept on my back for months.  I know many others that had less pain and were tummy sleepers much sooner, but wanted to give you my experience so you know you're not alone.

Glad to hear the movie was good.  I loved the book.
