Im so glad I was prepared!!
I thought about each and everyone of you today. I had to go to a key volunteers training thing today at the air station. The ONLY reason I went is because hubby gets a 72 hour pass off of work if I attended. I used to be active duty so none of the info was new or exciting to me LOL anyways when I called to sign up the woman said *I provide food and snacks since we will be here from 9 am till 3pm* I didnt even think about it but this is the first time since surgery I have been around strangers and food. I dont have many friends here as they all move away because of the military so I lead a pretty quiet life and only do things with hubby.
When I got up this morning I brought a Diet liption green tea, cheese and crackers (spreadable single serving) a slim jim and one scooby Doo fruit pack. I just had a gut feeling the food was going to be unhealthy at this event.
I arrived at 8:50 and on the table was 3 dozen Dunkin Donuts, a jar of peanut butter and regular jelly and bagels. Yep nothing for me LOL
For lunch they had sub sandwiches which I cannot eat the bread so I took a tiny one and ate the meat and cheese. They also had potato chips and cookies and a bowl of very tired looking apples and some big huge green grapes. I had some grapes. For drinks they had Coke, Dr. Pepper, Pepsi, Sunkist and Mt Dew. Before surgery I was a huge Diet Coke fan, If I could get away with it I would drink regular coke all day long, I really miss my soda. Anyways they should of had some sort of Diet non carb drink besides these full sugar options BUT thats ok I had my Diet Lipton tea. The other woman were hammering down the soda and the food, I felt like they were staring at me because I was eating slow and like a bird. Im proud of myself for packing snacks and my own drink and being prepared instead of going all day staring at junk food. My husband asked how the meeting went and the first thing out of my mouth was about the junk food hahahaha I told him I brought some healthy things and I was fine
anyways thats my big event for the day... I guess since Im not around people that much that I forget how much junk food people will eat and that I used to be right there with them eating it. Thanks for letting me share

Good for you Darcie!! Isn't it crazy to think that we ALL use to eat and drink all of that junk and not think one thing about it. ?? It is a great thing and VERY SMART of you to pack your own goodies. I'm proud of you!
But, you know what is the best part about today.... you get to spend those 72 hours with your hubby!
And all for being so smart! YOU GO GIRL!

Way to go Darcie! You are doing such a great job. That is a great thing to be able to not give in to the temptation. It was a good thing that you were prepared as well. I sure would like if every drink machine or convienient store sold the Sugarfree Tropicana lemonades. That is my newest addiction....lol.
