Hello. I'm Jenni, and I am being considered for the surgery.
Question..
Has anyone had surgery at Womack Army Hospital? Or any other hospital in Fayetteville?
Just curious what the wait times were like. And if I should maybe consider going back home (NJ) to have the surgery.
Also, what does Tricare want you to do to be approved? Like psych eval, nutritionist? etc..?
Thanks and I look forward to being a part of this board.
Hi Jenni:
Welcome. I am from Fayetteville and I had surgery in July with Dr. Davidson although I am BCBS and not tricare. I had wonderful care with Village Surgical. I do not know if they accept tricare or not. The hospital stay at Cape Fear was excellent. They are an Bariatric Center of Excellence. It was great care for sure. I have done well with my surgery and am glad I did it for sure. If you have any questions at all feel free to PM me. Glad you have showed up here on the NC boards.

Hi! Welcome!
There are several people in my support group that have tricare and had surgery with DR. Mitchell in Pinehurst. I thinks it's an hour or less from F'ville. The Bariatric program at Firsthealth is also one of the centers of excellence in NC.
The phych eval, nutrition visit are all usually requirements of each particular doctors program. I do not know the individual requirements of tri-care.
Good Luck in research process. It would probably be better to have surgery in NC vs. NJ secondary to frequent follow ups, support group of the program you choose and support from the MD

Hi Jenni! Welcome to the NC Board. It's a great place to hang out, make friends, and learn a lot about weight loss surgery and the post surgery life. Sorry, I can't answer your questions, but wanted to say HELLO!

like most I can not answer your questions, but wanted to wish you good luck. I have heard the insurance you have does approve WLS so that is a great start. I would say you will need a nutritionst anyway it goes, after WLS , having one is the most important thing.
Good luck with your journey and thank you husband for us for serving the USA - I am proud to say I support the men and women serving this country and they are really all heros.

Hi Jenni,
Like the rest, I can't answer a your questions about Tricare. I believe that's what our wonderful friend Darcie has for insurance and I'm sure she'll be chiming in shortly. (Unless she went to Disney...not sure when she was leaving.) Anyway, welcome to the OH family. Good luck on your journey. Keep us posted on your plans and progress.
xoxo
