GREAT weekend

Hi,

I had a GREAT weekend, and wanted to share. I went to a flyball tournament this weekend in Raleigh, and most of my doggie friends had not seen me since well before my surgery. And most didn't know I had WLS. I can't even count how many people came up to me this weekend to tell me how fabulous I looked!!! I never get compliments, so I was blushing all weekend. One lady I had not seen in a couple years said she recognized the dogs, but didn't know who was holding them, as she didn't even recognize me. And I am not even close to my goal weight yet!

I also met a guy this weekend. I put a profile on match.com after my surgery and he had been wanting to meet me, and I put it off as long as possible thinking I hadn't lost enough weight. Well I finally got the guts to invite him to the flyball tournament, and we really hit it off. I haven't dated in over 15 years, so this was huge for me.

I LOVE my new life!! :)

It will be the best thing you ever did for yourself. My only regret is I didn't do it sooner! I feel alive again, and I am only 1/2 way to goal. Good Luck!! The first month is really hard, but for the result, it is so worth it.

Congrats on your fabulous weekend!  Sounds like a lot of fun!  I know I don't get tired of the compliments.  Yes, lots of blushing, but that's OK!  :)  Good luck with your guy, glad to hear that you hit it off so well. Where do you train and compete in flyball?  Anything involving a ball is right up my dogs' alley!

I train them myself. I have a box, jumps, etc. I also do agility and herding with them. I play on a team which is actually based out of SC, as my friend is the captain.

I believe Bon Clyde in Sanford has a flyball class.

Flyball is awesome, the dogs LOVE it! If your dog loves balls and has lots of energy, it is worth trying.

Thanks Heather! Right now my older lab (5 years old) is a therapy dog.  We go to the hospital and visit.  But I'm starting to realize that it stresses her out.  It would be nice to have something else to get her (and the puppy) involved in. It sounds like a lot of fun...I'll check it out!

What hospital to you take her too? I take my dogs to Duke Children's Hospital to do pet therapy. I have been doing it for about 10 years now. My dogs love it, but I think it is different with kids.
