Hi, I am new to this web site. I have been reading messages posted this week and have found them very helpful. I do not have a surgery date yet but hope to get one soon. My doctor is Dr. Pender from the ECU School of Medicine in Greenville,  NC. Can anyone tell me anything about him? Thanks! Goldie23

Hi Goldie -

I'm afraid that I don't have any information about Dr. Pender for you ... I'm sure that others will though.

I just wanted to take a few minutes to say hello and welcome to the forum. I hope to get to know you as you travel this road. I look forward to hearing of your experiences and questions.

Wishing you all the best,

Barb

Hi Goldie.  I wanted to welcome you to the OH NC board.  I can't speak specifically about Dr. Pender as I had Dr. Chapman, but I just wanted to say that PCMH was a great place to have the surgery done.  The staff was very well trained and the hospital was well equipped.  I hope that all goes well with you on your journey.  If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them, feel free to email me. Take care. Ellen

I  finished all the usual required appointments on Dec, 18th. Dr. Pender has made me an appointment at ECU Endocrine on Feb. 5th.  Since that is not one of the usual appointments I'm a little concerned it might be something to hinder my surgery. I hope not. goldie

Hi Goldie! I too have Dr. Chapman as my Dr, but wanted to tell you that I've heard great things about Dr. Pender as well. I work at PCMH as well as had my surgery there and there has been good talk about Dr. Pender around the shop. :) Usually the bad stuff travels faster, so when I here only good stuff, no matter how small, that's usually a good thing. :) Good luck getting  your surgery date in place. What phase are you in preparation now?

Hi Goldie, welcome to the NC Board; you've landed in a great place for support and information.  I've heard great things about Dr. Pender too.  Dr. Chapman is my surgeon (& my husband's; non WLS).  The whole group at ECU is great.  The staff is super and the support group is good.   Good luck with your journey and feel free to ask any questions you have.  Alice

I have Dr. Pender as well. He seems very nice and really knows his stuff.   I have one appt. left the Psychologist (because he had a family emergancy and changed my appt to march :(. I think he is a cautious Doctor and likes to make sure there will be no hang ups at all during your WLS. He made additional appts for me as well. Good Luck and keep in touch! :) -Meagan
