I'm almost normal ...

I'm soooo close to a "normal" weight I can almost "taste" it. Forgive the pun ;-)

I'm down to 155 today and that puts me at a BMI of 25. I'm not sure I ever thought I'd see that. I'm hoping that it'll drop to 24.X soon so that I'll actually be a normal weight for the first time in more than 45 years.

I know a lot of people that a would argue with that statement! LOL

Like you, I think we've both come a long way.

I'm hoping that I can find a way for my husband to make this life-changing journey.

My husband is 6'3" and 190.. has no clue what it is like to be fat.  Bless him though.. he has supported me all of the way.  I hope that you can also convince your husband to make a change.  I am sure that he is proud of you!

Oh, he's convinced alright! So is his PCP. However, when I spoke with DukeWLS about it, they said they can't/won't entertain seeing him because his primary insurance has a specific exclusion against anything related to obesity treatment, including WLS. He also has Medicare because he had been permanently disabled. It is a covered benefit under Medicare, however, in Duke's experience, they said that Medicare will fill suit after the primary ... meaning that since the primary declined coverage, Medicare will also decline coverage, even though it's a covered benefit.

As you can imagine, I'm one wet hen!!! I'm still chasing Medicare to see if I can get something in writing that says that they pay for Medicare covered expenses when you meet the burden of medical necessity even if the primary insurer will not pay because of a specific exclusion. No luck yet.

Please keep us in your prayers,

Barb
