Need a little reassurance!

Hi Andra, There is something to be said about "blessed repetition."  What you are feeling is part of the normal process.  If you are having serious doubts and not just a case of the "this is getting real" jitters, like Barbara, I have always found writing up an "inventory" of reasons why I SHOULD have the surgery (or whatever) and reasons why I SHOULDN"T.  When I run out, I just "weigh" each side.  I am still allowed to go for the "lighter" side, it just helps me make a more rational, detached decision. I had some serious complications and complications secondary to those complications.  I would still do it again, even if I had to endure the complications again.  Wouldn't want to go any FURTHER than that, but I would do it again, and I am NOT done losing yet! Think about what you are hoping to achieve with this surgery and then think about where you are now.  Then make whatever decision is best and right for YOU.

Hi Andra...  I saw what they all said too!  DITTO!!  You are going through this stage and it will be over soon.  Excitement will set in and you will then be a LOSER!  I came to the board with those feelings of jitters myself and the advice Barb gave about writing down the pros and cons was exactly what I did.  I can't remember if someone told me to do it, or if I just read about that suggestion.  I just know that I made that list and probably added to it daily.  Your new journey is nothing but a PRO and you will soon see it when you write it all down.  Its just something to actually write it down....  like Therapy!   Good Luck... and hang in there.  We are all here for you and have been right where you are.  It is sooo normal.   Hugs- Connie

I think almost all of us go through the panic stage.  But, I can tell you I am 100% satisfied and happy I did the surgery.  I had NO complications.  At 3 weeks out I couldn't even tell I had had surgery.  I was carrying cases of juice, crates of milk, driving the school bus, everything I did before.  I never had real pain.  Just a little discomfort.  And I haven't had any real trouble with any food.  But, it is so normal to deal with the what if's.  I wish you lots of luck and I know you will do fine.
