This morning I took a wonderful walk with my babies and on the way home I relized I better find a bathroom quick. I stepped up my pace and tried to get the babies to come along quickly. Keep in mind I am going to try to be very lady like explaining this. I made it home. Did not make it to the bathroom in time. I got in the house dropped the dogs leashes and ran to the bathroom. It was horrible and I had to shower right away. So can excersise cause you to dump? Before walking I had a small METRX bar and one cup of coffee so far I eat this every morning and do ok but not today.                                                 Annie

Annie -

I've never experienced that before, but you might want to try cross-posting to the exercise, main, and rny forums to see if you get any info from those.

I'm sorry that your morning had a difficult start. I hope that the rest of your day went better.

Love,

Barb

Barb, The rest of my day went very well. Had lunch with a long time dear friend then went to Kohls and bought some new earrings and some body lotion. I like to treat myself from time to time with fragrent lotions and earrings. Kohls has some great prices on clothing.                                                          Annie

Yes, this has happened to me.  Thank goodness I made it home, but just barely.  I think it's a combination of what you ate before you left and the exercise itself.  Exercise will "get you moving" all on it's own.  If you've eaten something that also, "gets you moving" it can speed everything up.  I hope I'm making sense. I wonder if the MetRX bar has sugar alchohols in it?  Those will almost always give me outright diarrhea in large enough doses.  I think if I combine that with exercise I am definitely going to have issues.   If  this turns out to be a fluke, I wouldn't worry about it.  If it continues, however, I think I would start tweaking when I ate in relation to the exercise and see if it helps.  I actually don't eat before I walk, just drink and take my vitamins.  I wait to eat until after I get back.  That way I don't usually have to worry about it. Just some thoughts, do with them what you will.  I hope everything is well with you otherwise. Take care. Ellen

Sounds like a plan Ellen. I amy try the same eatting thing tomorrow before walking and see what happens. I always have the samething to eat each morning so trial and error this is how it seems to go for me since RNY. Other than that I am feeling great and still loving my walking.                                            Annie

Also, don't forget the possibility that you have "the bug" that is rampaging NC right now.  Our Emergency Room is full everynight and that is the way it starts.  Lots of people are being admitted for dehydration.   Keep up your fluids just in case!

I have problems with dumping lately and I am almost 2 years post op.  I have triggers from cereals and oatmeal.  I seem to dump anytime i eat them.  I feel badly right now, so I'm wondering if Amruby is right about this 'virus'.  I wonder how long it lasts.

Exercise itself will technically not cause you to dump....  however, exercise does get the ole bowels moving and the intestines going... sounds to me like the combo of the metRX bar, coffee and walking is what got you going... coffee in itself is a stimulant (unless you are doing decafe) so that alone can cause some to 'go'... Im going to assume the metRX bar has sugar/sugar alcohol in it... so the combo all together is proally what did it.  Some exercise experts suggest having a small protein packed snack around 1 hour before working out to boost your energy.. I will do that, but wont eat any closer than that.
