This is a little embarrassing but.....

I have to ask or I won't know. Have any of you had trouble going to the bathroom (BM)? If so, what have you taken to help with the situation? I have tried Benefiber without a lot of luck. This is a little personal but thanks for any input. Suzanne

I wish I could help, but I am having the same problem.  Before wls, I was very regular (daily).  Now it is like once every three or four days.  I am glad you asked the question.  I will be checking to see what kind of responses you get.  Take care!

Oh honey, don't worry about embarassing questions around these parts!  We're full of those.  LOL Ask anything you'd like. I've not had any bad problems going to the BR for BM, but since sometimes a few sips of my new juice addiction can send me there, maybe some juice or something that makes you dump will literally make you DUMP!   I'm just HOOKED on mixing up some half Welch's "lite" white grape juice and half cherry juice... It's just a tad sweet but tart with that cherry juice.  The "lite" grape juice is made w/Splenda, and by mixing the two, I cut the carbs in the cherry juice... but some days, it's like drinking liquid X-LAX! It's about all I drink these days...

P.S.  The first couple of weeks post-op for me, I didn't go every day like I've done every day of my life before.  I would go every 3-4 days.  I only got uncomfortable" a couple of times.  Once my new innards figured out what was going on, I got more "regular."

Suzy -

As Wendy said, don't worry about your question ... that's exactly why we're here, to give one another support.

Benefiber may help some, but my Dr. suggested that I use Miralax. It's a mild over the counter laxative. Please call your Dr. to be sure that it will be okay for you. I had issues with this off and on for the first few months. Thank goodness as my diet broadened, it hasn't been an issue anymore.

Hope this is some help.

Maybe you can work some more beans (like pinto, etc) into your diet to help with that.  I have not had those troubles but I hope you get some relief soon!

I go every 3 or 4 days now as well.. And whn I "feel" like I need to go just because... I drink dieter's tea and my doc said it was ok.. As long as it doesn't contain caffeine... And then I go for like 2 days LOL afterwards.... And also I take a stool softner at least once a week and sometimes if I drink all my protein shakes and get that extra protein in their which I add more fiber too, then I have no problems at all going... HTH
