I am just curious......how much weight had you lost when you went for you week post op appointment?  I just want to know if I am on the right track.

I agree with Jennifer.... the important thing now is to get yourself strong and healthy!!  I lost 14 lbs the first week or so... but was sooooo sick i know that the weight loss was not due to "normal" cir****tances... i would have rather gained a few pounds and not been so sick.

At two weeks I believe I was down about 15 pounds..  But Jennifer is right.  You need to worry more about protein and doing the right thing other than the weight.  All of that will come in due time.

I agree with everyone else about getting in vitamins, protein, etc., but I'll be honest-- 16 pounds is GREAT!!! I didn't go bac****il 2 weeks out and I think I was down about that. I just remember having GAINED like 12 pounds after leaving the hospital, so it took a few days to get that fluid out and to actually begin losing. You are doing awesome!!!!! Just think of all the good things to come!!!!!!! Congrats girl!!!

I know it's hard not to worry about how much you are losing right now. We want sooo much to be sure we are doing everything right. Honestly as Jennifer, Jennifer, and Melinda said it's kind of early to be worried about the rate of loss yet. As long as you are getting in your protien and fluids, and are walking you will lose. I'm sure if you ask your Dr. he'll let you know that you are doing fine.

I use a site called thinnerself.com to track my weight loss and how I'm doing w/regards to the overall percentage of excess weight I'm projected to lose. It helped ease my mind that I'm right on track. You plug in your surgery date, weight, height, age, sex, etc... and it calculates based on statistical averages where you are in the curve. For me, it's easier than asking others because it's based on your own weight, ht, age, length of time since surgery, etc...

I hope that helps some.

IMO the right track is focusing on getting in your protein, taking your vits/suppliements and getting in exercise. I had a two week post-op appt and was down 2 or 3lbs. There really is no right/wrong way of losing weight with this surgery.. some drop a bunch quickly then stall, others have a slow start and dont stall until much further out, some are just slow and steady each week!

First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1
2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5
Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!
Goal weight - 155 (mine) 180 (surgeons)
Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)

1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)

Celebrate your victories without comparing yourself to anyone else - you'll come to learn that each of us is different.  I know there's somebody that had surgery just two weeks before me and they are down 70 pounds!  I've worked my tail off and I'm down 40 - does it bother me?  CRAP NO!

I"M DOWN 40 POUNDS including pre-op diet.  I mean - come on!  THAT SO ROCKS! She's down 70 pounds - THAT'S ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!   Good for both of us! You've got to look inwards to change your life - if you start comparing now, it's going to be a harder road ahead of you.   Then again, i asked the same question so understand that I'm a complete hypocrit on this topic.
