HELP! 6 weeks out and a 3 lb weight gain!
on 1/6/08 10:05 pm
I'am just beside myself right now. I got on the scale this morning expecting to be at least 1 lb lighter and much to my surprise I am 3 lbs heavier. My first reaction CRY CRY and CRY some more. I am so disapointed in myself, I just don't know where I went wrong. I have been doing everything right or so I thought I was, aparently I'm not, and now I don't know what to do. Talk about ruining a day. I'm lost, this isn't supposed to happen, I have come so far, and have been doing so well until now! It's heartbreaking! Anyone have any suggestion for me! I hate to say it, but I really am DESPERATE!
WHOA stop the water works honey, its not real. Your body can fluctuate UP TO 5 LBS A DAY from jus****er. Changes in the atmosphere, time of the month, sunspots, you name it. You didn't do a thing wrong! I promise. Watch your salt intake today, get your water and protein in and relax, it will be gone within the next day or two :) {{hugs}}

As stated above our bodies naturally fluctuate... and up to 5lbs. I have learned I go up and down around 2-3lbs and around 'that time' or if I consume too much salt it will be more around 4-5lbs. If you are weighing daily this is normal... if you are weighing weekly it still can be normal. There is NO reason to be disappointed... you just need to be patient and know the scale fluctuations are NORMAL. You *cannot* let the scale ditctate your mood... I know its rough because you are early out but just know the scale will go back down and then some... it will keep moving in the 'right' direction. During my journey the scale has gone up and down many times... I have learned a LOT about my body and can pretty much know at this point what I will weight before stepping on the scale... just be patient and you will learn yours too and dont let that darn ole scale ruin your day!

I know it's hard, but this too shall pass. I nearly had a cow the first time it happened to me, but let me assure you that Lexi and Jennifer are absolutely right and it will be fine. Just keep doing what you are doing, your body will give up the lbs soon.
Hang in there,

DITTO ~ DITTO ~ DITTO.... Take a deep breath. When I was just 3 weeks post-op, I had a 13 day STALL that really unnerved me. But once I understood the "normalcy" of that and I wasn't the first to do that NOR was it my last stall, I chilled.
Since my surgery in October, and since that stall, I've had several others ones, so in addition to the fluctuation you're seeing today, you'll probably also have annoying stalls. We've done a MAJOR "thing" to our innards, and they take time to adjust and adapt... you're a few short weeks post-op, so although I totally understand your frustrations, it's the first of many. Give your new body more time to figure out what in the heck you did to it, and things will start leveling out for you.
