ROTD ~ Peanut Brittle Protein Shake
OK, this one isn't for me... can't do that protein stuff, BUT, I know lots of you do and when I ran upon this recipe, I thought those of you who do shakes might enjoy this one! It almost sounds like something I would try, but not quite. LOL
SOURCE: About.comHealthyRecipes Hugo Rivera, Body Building Guide Peanut Brittle Protein Shake Here's a fun way to satisfy a junk food craving without sending your blood sugar sky-high with real peanut brittle. At the same time, you'll be nourishing your body with lots of protein and healthy unsaturated fat.
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 scoops vanilla protein powder
- 2 T. sugar-free instant butterscotch pudding mix (dry)
- 1 T. natural peanut butter (smooth or chunky)
- 8 oz. water (or low-fat milk)
- 3-6 ice cubes
PREPARATION:
Add all ingredients to blender, whip, and serve. Hugo says: I like to use chunky peanut peanut butter and add it last so that it it stays chunky (like peanut brittle) but it tastes just as good with a smoother consistency. Footnotes posted there with recipe: Nutritional Information for added ingredients (excludes protein powder & use of milk): Calories - 121 Carbohydrates - 7g Protein - 4g Fat - 8g Fiber - 1g So, to calculate protein, add in your scoops of powder and milk, if using that.Well, I will have to tell you I dont do the protein powders either, but I am into making fruit smoothies etc.. for my son and I. I just made this for him but instead of using the protein powder I used SF vanilla instant pudding and he LOVED it. Asked me to make him one for breakfast and put it in the fridge (I leave much earlier then he does). Anyhow, if I could find a protein powder I liked, this one would be really, really good! Thanks for the ideas, I never thought about using the SF instant pudding in smoothies! YUMM!
