Hi Jennifer and welcome! My name is Adrienne and I had surgery through the Duke WLSC. My surgeon was Dr Portenier. I had my surgery March 15 of 2007 and have lost right at 100 lbs .
I have been very pleased with the care I have gotten at Duke. If you have any other questions please feel free to e-mail me personally ([email protected]) I would love to hear from you and I am sure you have lots of questions. I live in Durham near Southpoint Mall so I am not that far from Apex.
Best Wishes

Hi Jennifer, I had LB surgery at Duke four years ago. My surgeon has moved on to Seattle but I liked the folks at Duke, esp. Hilary. She's a Nurse Practitioner and she is so funny, understanding, and COOL. She's very easy to talk to.
Ken, I will be at Duke on Monday getting a LB adjustment, scheduled for 10am. Maybe we will cross paths.
I had my surgery 4 years ago and at that time, there were very few options at finding a lapband doctor in NC because the procedure was so new and Duke was the closest. Dr. Moran has just come on the scene recently. I have a friend who had lapband with Dr. Moran in July and I've read some posts on other boards from folks who have gone to him. My sense is that he's OK but his bedside manner and follow-up are not too great. In other words, he's not too available afterwards. In fact, my friend said that after the surgery was over, she did not see him until her 3 week check-up; he didn't even come to check on her the next day before she checked out of the hospital. Again, that's from what I have heard others say. Dr. Enochs was only doing RNYs when I was researching, so he was not an option for me. I went to Duke today for the first time in 2 years (I've been a very lazy bandster) and they were great, made me feel very much like part of the "family." They are all just super nice.
