I know we have all talked about this before...  but humor me.  LOL   How many of you swallow your vitamins/meds/supplements whole and how many crush them or take chewables?  Your help is greatly appreciated!!! Also, has anyone had problems with bruising?  I have upped my iron to try and stop the bruises.  I have always bruised easily, but this is CRAZY!!

I take a chewable multi vitiman, evrything else I swallow, I will tell you that it is very difficult to do because I have a  small/short  throat, so most of them don't make it down on the first try, sounds strange I know!  LOL

Hi Jennifer: I swallow most of mine. I take a mutivitamin from Walgreens that is cheap and also fairly small (1 tablet 2 x's daily) and biotin (3 tablets 2x's daily) and sublingual b12 2x's per day and then I chew 2 citrical calciums a day. I also heard from Dr. Oz that we should be taking Vitamin D and that it was vital so I am trying to find out about that.  Also, I am a huge bruiser. Let me know what you find out cause I have big issues as well. I also am having a hard time with my incision scars and the fading. Most of them look red still and I have seen others who you can't even tell they've had surgery. My scars are not horrific like when I first had surgery but I believe they should be more faded by now. I have heard Mederma works well so maybe I need to invest.  I go today for my six month visit so I am hoping that all my lab work comes out Ok as I do forget on occassion to take these vitamins but for the most part I take them. If I forget one, it's normally the calcium. Anyhow, hope you are well! Lisa

You should be taking a calcium that has vitamin D in it as well... the vitamin D helps you absorb the calcium better. Check the label on the citrical - more than likely it has vitamin D in it already :-) Citracal Calcium Citrate with Vitamin D 200 Caplets

Bruising can be a sign of Vit C and/or Vit K def as well as iron :-) I would suggest getting in some potassium in your diet... I know for me I get leg/foot cramps when my potassium is low! The suppliments dont really offer much (low RDA) so its best to get it from food instead! As for vitamins here is what I do flintstones complete chewables b12 sublingual (I swallow) b6 (swallow) calcium - chewable

I swallow mine whole and have almost from the beginning.

Have you talked to your Dr's office about the bruising issues? I also bruise easily, but honestly have not been experiencing any more issues since surgery than I had before.

I swallow all mine whole and like Barb, have done so as soon as I could swallow whole food.  I take 2 sub lingual B12s once a week per my doc's recommendations, but I also take a good B complex, a heavy duty multi, calcium and vit D3, 2000 micrograms of biotin, and I think that's about it.  Bruising might also be caused by something as innocuous as aspirin or ibuprofen as these will affect the clotting functions.  I have also always bruised easily but bruise more so if I use aspirin products or salicylates.

I take chewables. I even have chewable iron and actually taste OK. I use building blocks. Belinda
