Been super busy the past few days helping my mom but her regular person is back from her vacation but I am still going to stay on top of her caregivers and things going on with her well being. Anyway we had a very nice luncheon with the family on the 28th and my sister gave me a framed picture that was taken at Thanksgiving of the family and I really liked the picture. For the first time ever it looks like I fit meaning I dont look like the biggest person in the picture I love this picture. Do not fear I am going to post it tomorrow just have to scan it. Friday I did something I have never done before to my mother. I stood my ground and said this is how we are going to the hospital. She wanted me to go get a helper at womens hospital to get her a wheelchair then go take the car to valet parking and then go find her. It made no sense to me so I took control and said NO we are going to valet parking ask for a wheelchair and then I wheeled her to her appointment. I was called everything in the book by her but I let it just roll off my back. Lee and his buddy tell me I am getting more confidence since I am loosing weight. Maybe this is true but I am just getting to the point I will stand up for myself and refuse to be walked on any more. I am posting a picture of me and my fur kids taking a walk this morning.                                                    Annie

Annie, congrat's on sticking up for yourself.  I think after years of being controlled by people who don't respect our opinions, we've taught ourselves to withdraw and cause no commotion, (thus probably linked to many of ourselves feeling inferior- myself included).  My DH has also noticed, along with my co-workers, that I've grown a backbone and slowly but surely am stating my mind- even to him! lol.  I'm kind of lovin' it!   I saw your pics of the doggies walking you, lol, and looks like they enjoy it as much as you do!  Is that your kitty under the tree?  Hope you had a wonderful Christmas, and hope to see you sometime in the future!  I'm enjoying the birdies you got for me. Hi Nancy, That is a good way to put it growing a backbone. I even had to put my brother in his place on Christmas night. I am not scared anymore of speaking up. I even made Lee do 10 situps before we went to sleep he is on the fitness program too LOL Yes that was my cat Mr. Tink he goes on walks with us. After all the dogs are his dogs and we are his family so I assume he feels he must come along too. Happy New Year to you too and Cody and your hubby.                                                     Annie

Annie, every time I see you, you are shrunk!  It's amazing the progress you have made!  You should blow that picture up of you and the dogs and have it framed and hung on the wall.  And make it a HUGE picture!  It is SO you! I so relate to your experience with your mom!  Mine was the same way!  She had me in stitches one day when I refused to let her walk to the bathroom and I insisted we get a nurse to help me walk her.  She was madder than a wet hen!  As I positioned my son in front of her wheelchair to prevent her from getting up in my absence while I went to get the nurse, I heard her muttering "No go****ned WONDER her husbands left her!"  I thought how wonderful it was that she could still be so feisty in such a weakened state.  She died less than a month later and I will remember her spirit on that day forever with such gratitude..
