Went shopping for a new swimsuit today

Wow! That was an interesting experience!

First of all, trying to find a new swimsuit in December is a bit of challenge anyway. I had several people make comments and think I was nuts. I probably am, but still ;-)

I tried on my size 16 suit ... it would have been dangerous to try to get in the pool in that suit LOL.... so I ask my size 10 daughter if she had anything I could borrow. Well ... I'm not ready for a 2 piece suit ... I doubt that I'll ever be, so off we went to find a new suit. We both decided a pair of shorts would also be in order. I never wore swim shorts when I was heavier, but now that my legs melt from the upper thighs to the knees, I much more comfortable wearing shorts than going in just a swimsuit.

We went for a nice swim, followed by a dip in the hot tub. I'm looking forward to doing that again. I may even see about signing up for a water aerobics class.

Target already had swimsuits out last week.  I was shocked.  Before Christmas and already stocking swimsuits.  Man...  I am fortunate.  My sister in law gave me an old one of hers.  (Well, it looks new.. but it is a hand me down)  She has lost about 40 pounds, so I have inherited all of her 14's and such.

Barb, There will be another deep water arobics class at 9am on January 10th at the community center in Chapel Hill your first class is free. I am planning on going so if you would like to join me that would be fun. My new suit has french cut for the legs oh my but it fits great and we will be in deep water. All I have to do now is just make it into the pool in a quick way to help avoid a panic attack LOL.                                                     Annie

It is never too late to be what you might have been.?

OMG Annie -

You make me giggle! I totally understand about the panic attack. I'm telling you I was never quite as uncomfortable when I was bigger, than I am now with my melting legs. Oh well, I guess we just have to take a deep breath and dive in ... litterally and figuratively.

Sooooo.... what time is this class and how much does it cost once you get past the first freebie? I'm seriously thinking about it!

Love you,

Barb

Amy -

I understand your feelings, but honestly that swimsuit will be calling your name much sooner than you think. I can tell that I'm going to be investing in sarong's or pareo's to wear with mine though ...

I joined SportsPlex in Hillsborough, NC before my surgery.  I haven't joined the aroebics class yet, but have been walking in the water.  they say 1/2 hr water walking is like a 2 mile walk out of the water.    Before starting i purchased a swim suit on line at www.junonia.com.  it has a skirt and top combo and hides the worst of my "stuff".  I'm praying for the day it "falls off"!!!  I refuse to shower there, too many people around, so i just wear sweat pants over the suit and drip dry a little while before i put my pants back on to leave!  I don't think i'll ever be able to walk accross the room in a swim suit!!
