One more kick at the can....band

I had another visit with Dr B yesterday. One cc was added to my band. I seen to have lots of restriction, which is a nice change. I have gained 25 pounds since last November.  The new nurse immediately asked me what have I been eating...BURN... I told her that the majority of the weight went on when my insulin was increased from one shot per day to 4 to 5 shots. She said that would not cause weight gain,so I told her that she did not understand diabetes.    After a nice chat with Jet, I had a long talk with Rinette.  She confirmed that increasing insulin can cause weight gain. She was so understanding and encouraging. She managed to undo most of the damage done by the new nurse.

I too was on 4-5 insulin shots a day. However I am now on two shors daily by using lantus at bedtime and victoza in am. My sugars have never been better. They are both 24 hour lasting insulin. They are expensive but if you have drug coverage I highly reccommend asking your docter about it. Ps I had been on insulin for 10 YEARS and had frequent highs and lows. This routine keeps me steady.

Thanks, I will ask. I hate 4-5 shots per day. It seems to be working well now but 2 would beat 4!
