He was my surgeon.  I have had not a single issue and am very pleased.  Now after you have the surgery you will not see him again lol.  When you go for you apt's and class's it will be ther other dr's that see you.  But again I am very pleased with all the staff and the surgery.  Congrats also.

He was my surgeon, but I've NEVER met the man.

If I had it to do over again, I'd select someone that cared enough about their patients to take the time to meet them.

Going into it I knew I'd never see him afterwards, but was told I would meet with him at my pre-op appt. They lied.

Congrats on the approval!  Get ready for the ride of your life.

Sorry, I had Dr de la Torre, and saw him exactly 3 times.  My initial visit when they do the all day class, testing etc.  The day of surgery.  And 1 week after my surgery when my I went for my follow-up.  He was nice enough, but while I was in the hospital I only saw Dr. Scott, except for in the morning before surgery.  Other than that I have always seen Nancy, in fact just saw her last week for my 2 year follow-up. I give their office a 4 out of 5 ** rating.

Now I am looking for an understanding plastic surgeon in the area that can fix a hernia and do a pannulectomy(?sp).

They have a day where you and other people approved for the surgery go for classes with Nancy on what to expect your schedule like when you are on liquids and when you move to soft foods etc, dieticians, and an exercise person.  This is also the day your surgery is scheduled, and you will meet Dr de la Torre.  They do all of your pre-op testing too.  EKG, blood, x-ray, and breathing.  Just an FYI when I was in last week Nancy told me that she is retiring in April, because Dr de la Torre is leaving the practice for a new job as chief of surgery at Wash U (? I think)  But Dr Scott is really nice too as is all of the staff there.  So it is an exciting day because the end is in sight, nothing to worry about.

My sister just had him do her bypass last week.  She said she never saw him the whole time.  I had my surgery in Oct. with Dr. Scott and he was great, came in and saw me 3 times the 2 days I was in the hospital and Dr. Muralis (sp?) came in several times too.  I had the single incision and my sister came home with 5 incisions with staples!  She didn't know why she had all the incisions and staples because she wasn't told there would be anything different done.  She asked at her 1 week appt. and dr. DLT said her liver was big (he didn't make her do the protein thing before), so he had to do the 5 incision procedure.
I didn't specify any certain surgeon and I got Dr. Scott.  I liked him, he does know his job and he was right any time I had questions.

I know everyone thinks their surgeon is the gospel and so do I.  My surgeon held the info
seminar. see's me each visit and came several times(including Sunday) in the hospital.  He
gives all his patients his off phone; cell phone; home phone and his wife's cell phone(She is
his Admin Nurse).  We are encouraged to call him at anytime if we have a question or issue.
Don't think I could deal with a surgeon who is  not available to me.

He wonderful and I have seen 3 times since I had surgery in Sept 2009.  Already have
appt to see him for six month follow-up

The hospital  was equally as concerned for my welfare and I NEVER had to ask for anything.
Small Town, Small Hospital and all excellent experience and no problems.  Good Luck to
your in your WLS journey.  It is an exciting one.  Just waiting to lose 2 # to reach !00 #'s lost. I still
have 125 #'s to go and I know that I can call them anytime I need to.  I live 3 hrs away but
every trip there has been well worth the trip.
