Is it necessary to wear a medical alert tag or bracelet after an RNY?  Does anybody do it?

Here is a website that has some nice ones and recommendations for engraving.   this company is based in KC.

GASTRIC BYPASS

If you have had gastric bypass surgery or lap band surgery it is important to wear a medical id bracelet to alert emergency technicians that you can not have an NG tube inserted. Here is what we recommend for gastric bypass patients.

Gastric ByPass
No Blind NG Tube
No NSAIDS/ No Sugars

You said "we recommend,"  who is "we?"

And i'm courious,  how did Dr H. get a pt from Wichita.  I used to live there that is a long way.  Or have you moved there since your surgery?

Hugs,

Deb

Sorry I just copied and pasted that phrase from that website I suggested so I guess they have had people order those with that information on it.

I used to live in Kansas City just moved to Wichita in late May.  I haven't been able to see Dr. H since my move here cause it is like 5 hrs. away now.  I did just find a dr. here that is taking over my care she actually had wls  4 yrs ago herself so she knows what to look for and how to deal with medical issues associated with wls patients so I was lucky to find her.
