Eggs and Chicken
Pre-op I loved chicken and cooked it often. My surgery was July 8th and now I can't stand chicken or eggs. This sounds crazy but they have the same taste and it is repulsive. Makes me want to gag. Last night I had grilled chicken on a salad and picked it out because I can't stand the taste.
Anyone have that problem? I know our tastes change but I would never have thought I wouldn't like chicken. I do well with all seafood and even like tuna now. After years on WWs back in the days when you had to have 5 fish meals a week, I burned myself out on tuna. I don't like pork either except ham. The ham digests well and tastes good. Weird. Thanksgiving I will have turkey so I'm not sure how that will go down.
Ice cream is another food (I know I don't need to eat ice cream). I've tried the no sugar added and frozen yogurt. They go down fine but leave me feeling nauseaus. I can eat yogurt and other daily products. No big deal. It's not that I'm craving ice cream and the feeling I get from it is not pleasant.
RNY is a life changing event and I'm lovin' it.

Bless your heart, but I know the feeling, the things I loved before I cant stand now..
Just be sure you get plenty of protein in some form, shakes, vials and etc.
Befor surgery I loved the protein shakes now they make me so sick, so I use the vials, 42 grams in 3 gulps (excuse me sips)..lol......good luck ..and hang in there ...vesta

I do get my required protein in daily. Fortunately, I like the protein shakes and some of the protein bars. My favorite shake mix is Chocolate Carmel from GNC.
My dietician said not to use the vials because you don't absorb them very well. I didn't like them anyway. She also said not to consume more than 25 grams of protein at once because that is all your body can absorb.
Isn't it strange how different our tastes are after surgery and how we differ as people.

yes Jo RNY is a life changing event and i love it too. anything to stop the circle i was in...
mainly if a person isnt willing to change their life for the better they shouldnt do the surgery. they wont get the best out of it for sure. ...sounds like you are able to find a lot of stuff that you can eat. sure there are some things tht you cant eat but that is ok...
