One thing is to be sure to get in ALL your protein, thats important, i know not easy at times.  A vitamin you can take for hairloss is  "Biotin"  you can get it at walmart or any pharmacy.  Hope that helps ya.

Lori,
You and I are practically twins when it comes to our surgeries and symptoms! I've also lost 69 pounds and just recently found out I may have to have my gallbladder removed (you just had yours removed right?). Plus, my hair has started falling out as well. I'm clogging the drain in the shower and then when I use my flat iron it gets all over my clothes, then every time I run my fingers through, I get more. I just started taking one Biotin capsule each day. I'm hoping that and uping protein and water will help. I'm glad I have thick hair.

I know what you mean, I am having some issues since surgery, but I never, for a second regret my RNY.

Let me know if you find a miracle hair cure!

My PA recommended Biotin 1000MCG twice daily. He assured me it will grow back in time too. And it appears to be. I buy it at Wlamart and it is cheap. It also helps your nails grow and be stronger too.

Hey girl,

I take Biotin 5000mg a day.  I just started last week but I think it's helping.  My hair is feeling a little thicker and I can see baby hair growing.  So something is working.  Hope this helps.  I got mine at walmart it's like 4 bucks.

Love ya,

A lady at the hair products at J. C . Penny's told me that she tells her cancer Pts to use FLAX SEED OIL ,  phyto organics Intensive Reconstructor with protien rich quinoa to correct, restore and repair ( NEXUS ) leave in for 3 mins then rinse only use 1 time week for like 3or 4 weeks then cut back on it. Matrix Matrix essentials instacure leave in treatmeat . I did that plus get your protien in 1st and biotian and that done it for me I really got thin it was bad but at that time I wasn't drinking my protien shakes right either.  Hope this helps you you can get the products at J.C. penny.

Love Karen

Other than vitamins  and protien I was told nioxin shampoo and treatments help. I bought some but I haven't used it yet.

I started taking Biotin way before surgery and it has done nothing.  It doesn't know to only put hair on your head.  Also used Nioxin shampoo for months.  My hair was already thin and now it's really thin and like straw.  My scalp shows in the front.

This is hard for me because I've always been able to manage my hair very well and it always looked nice.

The first month after surgery I had trouble getting in all my protein but not any more.  So, I think the hair will fall out no matter what you do.  I'm not complaining because all the other benefits of the surgery are worth it.
