I'm getting concerned about wheter I will make it to surgerywithout going nuts.  I See my doc next week about Chantex to give up smoking and I know I will have to give up sodas, and I am a heavey soda drinker.  I am nervous and anxius about whether I can do all this.

Ciggerettes have been  like a freind to me.  I know that sounds silly but I need help thruough this.  But at the same time I hate them and want to get them out of my life.  It is so hard.

Jusst had to vent.  Not a good day.

thats ok vent all you want to...but i know you can do this...the sodas will cause you to have a headache for a couple of days but aspirin will get rid of it...it is just the caffine withdrawal.  and the cigs. can be overcome. when you feel yourself slipping come on here there should be someone on. do you have any one you can call if you feel yourself slipping? Cigs after about a week you will have that over come too. so hang on the ride from wls is well worth it. keep looking on down the road to the light at the end

keep your eyes on the prize

HUGS!! I know just how you feel, tho I gave up sodas long ago, when I thought trying to eat healthy might get rid of all this booty I carry around LOl NOT!!!Cigs however where my friend and coffee with caffeine, I always said i could get thru anything with coffee and a cigarette. But ya know what after two years of research, cutting our sugar, red meat, never frying anything and generally giving up everything but my friends coffee and cigs I realized I am my best friend and I NEEDED this for me. All my friends did was help me get thru a day of being fat and miserable, however this surgery I hope will help me get thru a happier healthier future!! I want a future for you and for me and the people we love, I gave it all up and it was easier than I thought it would be when i figured out, my family and my health were worth it!! Tomorrow I start my new life, hang in there girl, you CAN do it, I hope to see ya on the bench one day, with the rest of the LOOSERs who decided life was worth LIVING, not just getting thru!!

I am here should ya need a should anytime, many of us have been there done that, if we can do it you can do it!!!

HUGS!!!

hi Deb...I too am a heavy smoker and diet pepsi drinker...I always laugh when the Dr asks me do i drink...um yea...diet pepsi..at least 4-5 a day. You can almost never catch me without one and or a smoke too...I tried Chantex....they work as long as you can get over the nausea...I couldn't, but of course I was working with older folks that smoked like a chimney. But I did promise myself that if I get to have this surgery that I would quit and am going to try it again. I am almost on all the time, back and forth all day....my number is on the secret pal list too....so call if need be ok...I might need your help when its my turn to give up my best friends...lol

I promise you the soda is easy to get over. i was a huge drinker like 5 or 6 a day. But I managed, The hardest thing is when we go to the zoo and i have to drink my water. The good thing is they make so many add ins for water now that it helps.

I used to drink a two liter a day sometimes. I drank diet soda instead of eating. It didn't work. If it helps any I haven't even thought about a soda since surgery. Quit smoking because that will kill you for sure.

If you can drink two liters a day and not miss it after surgery, there is hope for  me, thanks, Susie.
