5 days and counting down

Only 5 more days until surgery! I am getting more and more excitied and more and more nervous.  This two week liquid diet is starting to get me down. everything smells so good and I am dying to crunch something. Then I realize that it will be quite some time before ii crunch. That starts me worrying about if I can do this..... Then I realize it is my last chance to be healthy and the process starts all over again.
It is somewhat harder because no one I work with knows about my surgery so I can't talk about it. It helps to read all of your posts.

Cheryl....Hang in there sweetie!!! Surgery day will be here before you know it... It wont be near as hard as  you think...especially when you see the weight that starts falling off......To help with the need for crunchy have you tried SF fudge pops?? I had to be on my liquid diet for 3 months and I missed chewing so bad....I really went to town on the fudge pops and I also froze crystal lite in a few ice trays and but them in my lil chopper thingy and made chunky ice to chew on....I got to chew and I also had some flavor.....
Why have you not told anyone at work???
Hope you stay in touch with us on the board and let us know how things are going.... My prayers are with you....Luv & Hugs.....Tammy~ammy

I hadn't thought of flavored ice! I love to chew on ice. Thanks for such a good idea. I haven't told people at work because I don't want to listen to them try to talk me out of it. I am an ICU nurse and I have worked with these people for 16 years. In lots of ways we are close. They say things like....you cana't possibly qualify for that surgery or remember that patient..... ICU nurses have seen every complication you can imagine and can turn a bloody nose from dry air into an incurable blood disorder in their mind. I will tell them after it is over. Just don't want to have to defend my choice and be reminded of ALL the possible complications tht CAN happen but seldom do.
Thanks for you advice.

I thought I would not make it on my liquid diet but I did and without cheating. I save the sugar free pops till I was really bad. They pulled me through. I really struggled but when it got bad  I got on here and posted to keep myself busy. I can tell you I am very glad I didn't cheat. In the recovery room Dr H walked by and the only thing he said was 'nice job with the liver'. That made it worth it. Hang in there.
